I think it works alot better as a film to be honest, it's not exactly a page turner. But at least the messages in it are all heart warming and stuff :h:

I agree, but yeah... Filming is quite bad :teehee: but better than the book -.-

What are the messages ay?

That people should depend on eachother. Sweet eh? :h:

Although it also gives out the idea that divorce is ok, so whatever floats your boat.

:erm: yeah, that message is ****ed up. You depend on someone and BAM, they leave and disappear... Although I'm the person you can depends on... Even if it means waking me up after 3 in the morning... Yes 3 :colonhash: and I get nada back, not even nada, I get BAD things back

And no, divorce is just... You'd not have got married if it wasn't 'enough' so why should it change?

Probably naive on my behalf.
Haven't read the book but in certain circumstances divorce is far better than the parents staying together. :pierre:

It's all part of a generation in America that basically bred the current belief over there that everyone gets divorced. I mean there's no couple in that entire book really.

But it does definitely portray the idea that depending on eachother is a good thing, just that you shouldn't expect that to be permanent. It encourages the idea of maintaining interpersonal skills to be able to find a constant rotation of people to depend on. That being perfectly shown in the soon to end school dynamic the boy has issues with.

I am waking you up at precisely 3am tomorrow. Challenge accepted.

Yeah completely agree, though I dislike the kinda standard american view that marriage is a 3-4 year stint thing now though.

That's true, such a boring book, I'd rather have read Lord of the Flies... Which I read in year 8 and struggled keeping up with in my own time

Yeah, I guess... :cute:

How? on my phone! One must text me to wake me up if they need it

SARCASM DETECTED

Come on you know me from Atheism Society, Socialist Party, etc etc. Would be a bit odd if I turned around and said ban divorces.

Yeah, that's why it struck me as a bit weird. Although socialists do tend to have an authoritarian streak so you never know.
