Can you used c3 differentiation in c2

Hello, I'm on the edexcel exam board and I'm retaking c2, can you use, say the quotient rule in c2 or will they not give you the marks ?

Yeah I know but I have forgotten how to differentiate say: (x^2+3x-7) / x
Without using that rule I know it's stupid but I can't remember

Just split up the numerator and differentiate term by term.

a+b+cd=ad+bd+cd\dfrac{a+b+c}{d} = \dfrac{a}{d} + \dfrac{b}{d} + \dfrac{c}{d}

Yeah I did that but I've completely blanked at how to differentiate 7/x.. Do you do 7x^(-1) then do that?

yeah :smile: the only time that you wont see 1/x etc is on integration on C2 because that goes to lnx :smile:
