Deriving cosec(x)

The examples I've seen uses quotient rule. Both of the examples I've seem online.
I used chain rule as it seems much quicker and got the same answer.
Was mine a fluke or can it be used?
Thanks!

Quotient rule is derived from the product rule and chain rule. Just there to make your life easier.

So no problem at all. You never even hear of the quotient rule after College.
Might sound like a silly question, but how would you derive cosec(x)? I thought it was just a definition?

I think the OP meant "differentiate" (as in find the derivative)
