North Korea (Someone please explain...)

You would contact a NK government company or your embassy would would contact the NK people respnsible. You would then get a 'visa' or basically authorisation to go there, provided you are not American or South Korean. The British are looked on as 'ok' but due to the closeness to the US other nationalaties may fair better.

When you arrive you will be asked to hand over your mobile phone (I heard this was recinded recently) and will be assigned a minder or guide who will show you around and strictly control where you go.

It's worth noting that if you step out of line your minder can end up in a lot of ****, including imprisonment and life forced labor. You will most likely be escorted and deported.

Ok, but what if someone wanted to live their permanently?? Is it the same procedure, and even then, would the resident need a guide with them 24/7?

Simple answer, you can't.

I'm sure there are exceptions though. I'm sure a South Korean with some good inside military info could defect and would be allowed to live in North Korea. But still probably closely guarded. There's also cases where people have had the "pleasure" of living there because they were abducted. There was a film director who was kidnapped by the North Korean government because Kim Jong Il wanted him to make films for him.

But just an ordinary person? No way.

Fair enough, so, how would one get to live in North Korea (A foreigner)? (Is it impossible??)

Just wondering, why hasn't anyone attempted to hack the North Korean TV network and broadcast anti-propaganda shows? Surely it's possible in the modern technological age we live in.

It is perfectly possible to tune into foreign radio and TV shows in NK, and people do it. Of course, the penalties for getting caught doing this are severe.

No I mean, what if someone outside of NK decided to hack the main North Korean network and do it?? Surely then there would be no escape of people getting the message???

Yeah, 'hacking' and 'Tv Networks' don't work like that.

Also NK is not connected to the Internet, if it is it is very limited, perhaps a few PC's in the highest government buildings very few will have access too. Nearly all houses don't have TVs or Radios for that matter, only the highest government do. If any outside do, they probably won't be tunable and will only recieve government controled channels. The public don't even have telephones.

Just to give you an idea, there are few if no tractors over there, all agriculture is done by hand. a lot of rural settlements don't even have electricity and the only real city is Pyongyang. To live there you must be loyal and selected and having a TV would be nearly a dream.

Even if you did 'tell them of the truth' they woudn't believe you, they are completely brainwashed since birth.

Right, so, is it technically impossible to spark a rebellion in NK?

What was NK like before this current dictatorial family took power? Surely it wasn't always in such a state and so it amazes me they managed to get it like that when originally there must have been older people who remembered what it used to be like?

Dude, most of the population think Kim Jong Un is God and that the 1993 famine was brought about because they had failed to follow the leader's teachings.

They think the outside world is in chaos and they are very lucky to live in NK.
