C4 parametrics question !

Hello , pls can I have some help with this question :
question no 9c on this Solomon C4 worksheet [link removed due to copyright infringement]

I got the same answer as them but my method was strikingly different. Here is my method:

Well I found the cartesian equation of the curve and solved simultaneous equations with the normal in order to find out the value of coordinate .

Any guidance would be helpful . Thanks!

Well finding the cartesian equation preempts the next part of the question.

It clearly works, but I don't know what the examiners would think of it.

Substituting the parametric forms of x, and y, into the equation of the normal would be the usual way to go.

Any method is fine so long as you are not instructed to do it a particular way.
