My girlfriend is looking to go to WTC next year to enroll on the Specialist Makeup HND course if she can, but she's had serious health problems and hasn't got some of the entry requirements so we're just looking into other things we can do to boost her portfolio.

What course are you looking at? :smile:

ahhh cool! do you mean next year as in starting 2014? if you want any advice on the portfolio then i'd be happy to help :smile:

i'm going for the HND Specialist Makeup too, starting september! :smile:

I went there 2 years ago. I don't know about HE courses but it is absolutely CRAP for A-Levels (particular Sciences and Maths). The college is quite badly run. I would NOT advise you to go there if you are paying a lot.

Yeah she's starting 2014 - she's doing the makeup for a stage show of The Sound Of Music literally right this second at our local theatre (Corn Exchange in Newbury). She's done a couple of shows there in the past and she's done me up as god knows how many things over the years for parties/photoshoots etc. What sort of makeup have you done? Like shows and stuff haha. Good luck to you! Hope you do well.

wow well she's got plenty of experience then! that will look good on her application/personal statement.
well i've been a photography student for the past 2 years and i've done makeup for fashion shoots within college.. when i went for my interview my portfolio mostly consisted of my photography with a few makeup pieces too :smile:

i think a key factor that they look for is creativity within work, an eye for detail, how passionate you are etc, taking this into account i'm sure your girlfriend will do great!

Doing the intensive A-level chemistry course there this September. It was the only place offering the course in my area, so didn't really have much choice about where to go.
