North Korea Declares War on South Korea

North Korea says it has entered a "state of war" with South Korea and will deal with "all matters" accordingly.

"As of now, inter-Korea relations enter a state of war and all matters between the two Koreas will be handled according to wartime protocol," the North said in a statement broadcast by the official Korean Central News Agency.

"The long-standing situation of the Korean peninsula being neither at peace nor at war is finally over."

The statement also warned that any military provocation near the North-South land or sea border would result "in a full-scale conflict and a nuclear war".

The two Koreas have always technically remained at war because the 1950-53 Korean War ended with an armistice rather than a peace treaty.

Earlier this month, the North said it was ripping up the armistice and other bilateral peace pacts signed with the South in protest against South Korea-US joint military exercises.

The Republic of South Africa would like to say goodbye to the DPRK as a nation. We would also like to urge the United States to act quickly as the sooner this nutcase Jong-Un is dead, the sooner the people of the DPRK can be relieved of their oppression.

Canada would still prefer a peaceful solution but seeing as that is quickly leaving the table, we will provide minimal support to South Korea.

The Islamic Republic of Iran will support our friend in the North in any way we can. We commend our ally on finally fighting back and hope they are successful in their efforts.

The Republic of India does not see a great change in the relations between the Koreas, war has been the recipe of choice for the last seventy years. Obviously India condemns the hostilities of North Korea and its biggest concern is the ability of the conflict to conflate to a global nuclear war. India recommends a convening of the Security Council to draw up resolutions to this obstacle to world peace.

Although we hope it doesn't reach this stage, we expect the DPRK to ultimately try to use its nuclear weapons. The US will inevitably become involved either way, though, and with China (to the best of our knowledge) being on DPRK's side, we may yet see a new Cold War.

China wouldn't follow the DPRK into a war with America, if DPRK attacked America with nuclear weapons then America and NATO would wipe the DPRK off the map, they would be obliterated. China wouldn't risk a war with America and NATO and North Korea's only real ally would be Iran and even they would be weary.

Well the version of events I suggested was a worst case scenario in all honesty, but we wouldn't rule out China covertly backing the DPRK.

It would be suicidal of them to engage in full scale war.

The same can be said of the DPRK unleashing its nuclear arsenal, although Libya remains to be convinced of the er shall we say mental stability of the leadership.
