I have received an offer for BSc Economics of A*AAa but I am doing 4 A2 subjects. Shouldn't I received an offer like A*AAB instead?

Hi
I applied to do economics at Warwick back in October, but I still haven't had a reply yet. Is there much chance that I will get an offer now? I have been predicted the entrance requirement of A*AAa; I know this doesn't automatically mean I will get an offer but I just wondered if there was a reason my application is taking a long time. Thank you!

We do make some offers before the 15th UCAS deadline but the majority of our offers are made after this date, when we have received all of the forms and had an opportunity to consider them all equally.

Another quick question. Would the department normally permit students to study a new language that they have little or no experience without credits? Many thanks ~!

You get option modules, one of which you could choose as a language. Further, you may be interested in our highly successful ERASMUS scheme: http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/soc/economics/ug/handbook/your_degree_programme/study_abroad/erasmus_details/.

Does your Economics offer of A*AAB specify the grade of Maths i.e. at A*? What if A* FM is achieved but not Maths?

No, of the A*AAB, you are required to gain at least an A in Maths. Further Maths is not a substitute for Maths.

Hi Warwick.

Can you tell me what happens for me as a deferred entry student.
I got my offer Christmas 2011 and got the grades the next summer. I'm now On a year in Industry gap year (Engineering).
Since the summer 2012 where I got my confirmed place, I've not really heard anything from the university since. Is this normal? What should I be expecting from them? How will I enrol ?
The wait is driving me nuts! =S

Thanks

Deferred students will receive information shortly.

No the offer is correct. It is standard to make the A*AAa offer when students have the 4th AS, more often than not it causes less confusion.
Hi, I'm looking to study economics, and was wandering when your next open day was. Could you please let me know? Many thanks.
Hi
Not sure whether to select firm and insurance universities now and therefore also accomodation or wait till the end of March for Warwick to reply. I just need it sorted to move on. currently sitting on 4 As after the Jan results aiming for at least 2 A* 2 As in the summer.

I would not worry about accommodation decisions until you receive an offer from a university. There is ample time between receiving an offer and enrollment dates to make accommodation decisions.

Hi could you tell us figures such as how many applicants there are and how many have got offers so far?
Also, approximately what percentage of applicants will get an offer?
Dont worry if you can't share the information!

Hi,

I have received an offer to read Economics at Warwick, and have a few questions about accomodation:

1 Does it make a difference (increase my chances) if I apply for it now or a few weeks later (before the deadline)?
2 Am I guaranteed to receive accomodation on the campus even if I get rejected for my first choice? Or how does it work?

HI! I have applied for the course economics, politics and international studies. I already know that I would like to major in politics and international studies, but at the same time I love economics, and my IB HL subjects include economics and mathematics. In my personal statement, I talked more about my passion for politics, international studies and languages. Would this affect my chances since the PS is read by the economics department?

I cannot give exact numbers but the application process is extremely competitive, hence the high entry requirements.

There will be good time to make all decisions regarding accommodation. The information on the following link (and contacts) will hopefully answer all your queries http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/accommodation/studentaccommodation/.

Firstly, I would say it is important to remember that your application is made up of four components, not just your personal statement. Further, the personal statement will be read without any bias. It is fine to feel more inclined to certain subjects. Furthermore, I would say it also is fine not to know exactly what you want to do at this stage, if you are successful in your application, a year into your studies you will be able to make a more informed decision as to what you want to specialise in.

Thank you for answering!
Would you ever accept variations on the A*AAB offer on results day? Such as A*A*BB or AAAA?
