MSc: Cass, UCL, or Manchester?

Hi everyone, I have 3 offers to choose:
1. Cass Business School, City University London : MSc Investment Management

Regarding the course, I am interested in all of them, mainly because I haven't had a clear career goal :frown:

UCL's Management might be too general knowledge even with its specialised finance stream. Could anyone tell me is the career service in MSc Management highly linked to finance industry? How does the consultancy project differ from normal dissertation?

Investment Mgt in Cass , on the other hand, might be too specialised if I plan to find a job in other industries? The only thing attracts me in Manchester's IBM is the foreign exchange programme, but I found it's not guaranteed.

However, what I concern most is that many job recruiters in Asia ( or maybe even in the UK) select the candidates by their diploma rankings. UCL is ranked worldwide 1st-tiered universities (4th in the QS 2012/13 World University Rankings) but doesn't have a b-school that I'm afraid the networking is weaker. Cass ranks 40th in FT 2013 global MBA ranking, but the overall ranking of City University London is not parallel to Cass. No sure whether the connection to job market of Cass outweighs the reputation of UCL when finding a job in the UK or Greater China...I am totally torn, can anyone give me some advice?

- international (and indeed also domestic) reputation: it is certainly below UCL but definitely higher than City
- business reputation: it is below City but definitely higher than UCL
. Besides, Manchester is a target uni and also in a big city, so there maybe more job opportunities.

From what I have heard UCL is among the top six UK universities for finance-related recruitment, along with Oxbridge, LSE, Warwick, Imperial. Cass is considered a tier below, and is not very well known abroad; I would really recommend UCL!

Could you please share your academic profile and information on any relevant work experiences while you studied?

I would say City and would like to challenge the above claim (bearing in mind OP is looking for MSc in Management not Fiance). Cass is a very good business school and I have seen many students from Warwick who went on to study their master at Cass.

According to several rankings (including THE, Complete, and more importantly FT), Cass is ranked in the top ten bus school where UCL is no where near (e.g: http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/masters-in-management-2012)

I agree here. Cass is a better business school (in fact, UCL doesn't even have a business school) and is on the rise!
Also, I did my undergrad at City Uni, and I loved it :smile:

I think you should choose Cass. One of the best business school in Europe, great environment and excellent reputation. I have met three guys who did the MSc in Investment Management. They told me really good things about that program. good luck ..
