Edexcel IGCSE here as well, but I have 6.

The way triple works is that EVERYONE does the dual award paper which is worth 66 2/3% of a GCSE, but the triple science kids do the triple award paper which is 33 1/3% of a GCSE. The double kids have 3 * 66 2/3% so 2 GCSEs, but the triples have 3 * 66 2/3% + 3 * 33 1/3% and get awarded 3 GCSEs
