S1 Normal Distribution Help

This is Paper C q5 (b) on the Soloman Statistics 1 papers.

Find -> T~N(25, 42)

(b) P( |T-25| < 5)

I've never come across the "|" symbol in normal statistics Edexcel Papers. Normally I would just standardize and find the z value but this has gotten me stumped.

Any help please?

Thats just saying P(-5<T-25<5)

And E(T-25) = E(T) - 25 = 0
Var(T-25) = Var(T) = 42

Hence, T-25~N(0, 42)

Then just do your Z transformations and work it out from there.

They wouldn't even ask a question like that for edexcel, stick to edexcel for s1.

Yeah I probably will. My bro said that was modulus which is FP1 in FM. Will do that in the summer. Thanks!
