Easy but annoying BODMAS related question...

This question is confusing me, anyone work out the answer for me? I get it to 320 but some people say 20 etc...




4 x 4 + 4 x 4 + 4 - 4 x 4 =?



no brackets, just exactally how you see it.

BODMAS means multiplication comes before both addition and subtraction.

So you have to consider the parts where two numbers are being multiplied together, and then addition followed by subtraction :smile:

so we turn it into;


16 + 16 + 4 - 16 = 20?

Brackets, Indicies, Division, Multiplication, Addition and then Subtraction.

(4 x 4)+(4 x 4) + 4 - (4 x 4) = 36 - 16 = 20 :tongue:
