ok i'll try answer what I can lol keep in mind my interview was for medical physics....

With the questions you will be asked specialism specific q's but there wasn't anything totally unrelated if that makes sense... as medical physics they didn't ask me any biology questions for example.
As far as I know people havent heard back so by reserve list they mean for the interview stage.
With the interview layout the room will be split into two sides each having four tables with two interviewers, before you go in they'll take you as a group of 8 and split you into two groups of four and tell you where to sit on what side. Once you're on your side of the room you dont worry about the other side lol so ye four tables four candidates and you rotate around the tables when they tell you to. Dont worry they will explain this all to you before you go in anyway, but basically it was your first option four stations one candidate to each station then rotate.
As for what people were wearing it was basic business wear, so I just had smart black trousers and a blouse with a suit jacket.
They dont provide lockers but when you come in to register theres a desk where two people will sign you in and check your ID, before you go in they tell you that you can leave your bags by them as they will be there the whole time.
With the driving thing I would probably tick yes seeing as you have your provisional with the intention of actually getting your full licence.

Hope this has helped a bit

Good luck!!!

A suit jacket?! I better get shopping then lol :P
Thank you and good luck to you hun..

aw thanks so much. I have a biochemistry degree and went to visit the pathology labs on one of the open days. I know that doesn't sound much which is why i probably don't have an interview, so guess with more experience i might have got one. also have a bit of work experience in a surgery behind reception so a bit of experience with patients. guess i must have answered the questions quite well.

this is literally all I want to do so I hopeeeee I get called.

what about you? (did you apply for clinical biochem?)

Well someone on the clinical biochem list will be in luck... I was offered another job and declined my interview, which if you'd told me I'd do this time last year I'd have said you were insane! I am very happy with my new job though and good luck to whoever takes my place at interview.

Hi All, i've got an interview for micro, does anyone know if we will be asked for our choice of regions again at some point in the process? I want to swap my 2nd and 3rd choice around.

Hey! I'm wondering if anyone got interviews for Genetics? I'm so nervous and have no idea what to revise!
Hey everyone, did you guys get this e-mail about preferences? Just got it now, I'm guessing they're close to deciding if they wanna know what specific employer we would want within out geographical preferences... fingers crossed we find out soon!!

No, I didn't, what does the email say??! When I log into my milkround application form, I see a new page asking for preferred employer though. Obviously not going to fill it out until they say something but I wonder if this means they've got the scores back?!
We are looking to gather a little more information ahead of your upcoming/recent interview(s). As you know, you may have been shortlisted for up to two positions with your application and we would now like you to specify for the theme/speciality and location you will be interviewed for which employer you would like to be placed with. We will obviously try to place you in your preferred organisation but we cannot guarantee this. Please log in at http://www.milkroundapplications.com/608/NHS-England/667/login at the earliest opportunity and list at least ONE of your preferred employer(s) in order (please go to http://www.nhscareers.nhs.uk/media/1739183/posts_by_location_27.02.13.pdf to view a full list of employers).

Thank you and we look forward to meeting you soon.

Kind regards

The NHS Scientist Training Programme Recruitment Team

It'll probably take a while to get sent out... but hopefully it means we'll get answers soon!!
Thanks for posting it - I hope I get the email soon, I'm getting paranoid!!
What specialism did you apply for if you dont mind me asking?
I applied for medical physics. Trying not to get my hopes up 'cause I'll be really disappointed if I don't get it but we have to wait so long it's hard not to think about it!
I wouldnt worry about the e-mail though I really dont think it means anything because of the generic format of it.... I just think its their system being a bit slow and random... they have had quite a few glitches this year lol but i know what you mean the wait is really getting to me it'll be a month next week since the interview :frown:
Which geographical preferences did you have down? I had london and then any for the rest lol I dunno if london was a wise choice considering it will be quite popular but I'm hoping the any part will make them think ohh ye shes desperate and really wants this lol
Yeah, I think I'm just being paranoid. I think maybe now that all specialisms have heard about interviews (I think) that they've just done a massive 'send to all' which is kind of sad because it might mean they still don't have the scores back :frown: I've applied for London as well and regions around although I'm pretty sure I'll take anything if I get a place! Good luck bigbanggeek, let's hope we get it! Hehe

I didn't get an email either although my milkround has changed to ask for preferences. Really hoping that its just a system glitch and I don't have to look at plan b.

I seem to remember something similar happening last year ,so fingers crossed for everyone!

I'm just going to poke my head up for a moment, and point out that location preferences have literally no bearing on if you get the job.

If they have say 100 posts, then the top 100 people will get those posts. First they look at people who are the most tied down (mortgages, dependents etc) and give them their preferred options if possible, then after that it is purely score based. Therefore, the higher up the score list you are, the more likely you are to get your first preference.

Myself and a colleague (both applied for MedPhys and were interviewed a few weeks ago) have been discussing the email from last night about location preferences.

We've both been through the interview process (maybe more than once *cough*) and noted that last year we were asked for location preferences when we initially applied.

Given that it seems a number of people, even those not already interviewed for their chosen Specialism, have received the same email then it's probably the case that there's been an admin error, and that everyone should have been asked that question in the first place. Or something similar. Plus the system asked for us to specify our Specialism before choosing preferred locations: not the kind of individualistic system you might expect, but that's a minor point with the other factor being more important.

We don't like the idea of having our hopes raised & then potentially dashed, but we're erring on the side of caution & assuming that it was an oversight.

Still, it's not a rejection letter so that's a positive!

People on the facebook page who have yet to interview have also been asked for preferences so I don't think the email can be an indication of who was successful.

I agree... i asked the same question to one of the lead in med phy... however the answer i got, seemed ligit to me... they had the same kind of view in the pre-stp years, and they spent lot of money on (old part 1) training, but at the end didnt reap the results as the drop-out rate was high during the training period, also after finishing the training, lot of the remaining left and went for either industry or academic jobs (remember this will be a 3 year contract only, and then you have to apply for NHS scientist jobs again)... so now they also look for candidates who express their 'real' interest in the scientist posts in NHS, not only for the subject/specialism...

Sakilz, though I still don't completely agree with some of your points I appreciate your diplomacy and that you have taken to time to respond with some useful information. Thanks a lot.

Twinkle K, best of luck for the interview, and fyi its "forum".

'NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme': answering questions on the location email on the Facebook page:

"... Just to try and clear up any confusion - this email does not mean you have been successful in your interview. It is the same process as we run last year - we simply give candidates the option to provide more information on their preferred organisations within the regions they have applied for. On the form just list the organisations you would prefer to be based in within the region you have applied for. It is simply more information for us to help try and place you. Nothing more nothing less..."

"...we are just trying to get the latest information from candidates in terms of their organisation preferences - just list the organisations you'd prefer for the theme(s) you are interviewed for. We ask for both regions as well as organisations to try and place people as close as possible to where they want to be.If you want to change your regions tell the helpdesk ASAP so hey can update your form..."

"... the form gives you the option of 2 positions as some candidates applied for two hence the need to collect information on both - it will not apply to everyone..."
