Getting in to Loughborough

I'm currently meeting the a levels AAB/AAA I need to get in but before applying I was wondering what the average gcse grades are needed? I have a lot of Bs for gcse but would really like to know how likely it is I could get in?

A-level grades are more important than GCSEs, so as long as you meet the standard C or B grade they ask for in English and maths there shouldn't be any problems. Good luck!

PS: Aren't you applying a bit late?

Ah alright, assumed you were going for 2013 entry since you meet the requirement already. Well good luck to you, I went to lufbra this February for an interview and it was quite nice although slightly contained.

Hi Laura,

If you are concerned about the strength in your application for the University, I encourage you to apply for the university but consider Loughborough College. I'm not sure what course you are studying but the college run various undergraduate foundation and BSc Top-Up degrees within Sport and other disciplines (Management etc) that are certified by the university. The only difference is that the college delivers them, not the uni. You can still live in halls, take part in BUCS, join all society's and AU clubs etc.

This is what I had to do, because of my sport I only had 5 GCSE's and a BTEC (DDD), so did a foundation degree for two years and am now completing my BSc Top - up year at the college (you can do the final BSc Top-up year at the uni if you want to transfer). During this time, I've represented the tennis teams and captained the first team for the last two years - all while studying at the college.

Hope this gives an insight, if you want any further info, please don't hesitate to contact me.
