Studying Film at Bournemouth without Film Studies?

Okay this is a funny one,

I'm thinking of going to Bournemouth to study Film and Cinematography.

Thing is the school I'm at doesn't offer Film or Media studies so I don't have the right A-level subjects.

However; I do make short mini-films in my own time and at school I am in charge of the media group, making videos at school to promote it and stuff like that.

Would a portfolio of work be just as good, or if not better than an A-level in film?

Portfolio will be fine, just get some good grades and a nice personal statement go guarantee you some offers since media and film aren't usually oversubscribed heavoly

If anything it's better that you've been working on stuff outside your studies.
I haven't studied anything film related at A Level but I got offers from 4 out of 5 of my university choices (the bastards at LCC just didn't like my personal statement it seems) and everywhere I went for interviews said that the main thing that attracted them to me was my enthusiasm and drive to make films.
