I have my interview this week and I literally feel like I am going to have a nervous breakdown about it!!!!

I am so petrified that I am going to make such a fool out of myself :frown:

In short, I'm a microbiologist, for 4 years now I have got no where with the STP for micro but this year I was selected for interview for a brand new STP pathway. I have done as much research as I can as possible but this is a subject area I have no experience of and I am up against people who do this for a job everyday!
I have no idea how to prepare for the specialism questions and I feel completely out of my depth! I want this STP so bad. It's a change of career but one I have always been desperate to get into and now it's offered on the STP, it's my only chance and having been to the department and seen what is involved, I want it even more!

I am losing sleep over not being able to answer the specialism questions and I was wondering if anyone could provide any advice as to what would be best to say if I really cannot answer a question? Obviously I will try my best and work it out but is it better to try and get it completely wrong or just say you don't know? Should I say' I don't know but would do this, this and this to find out' etc

Somebody help me before I go insane :/

Calm down. I am sure everything will be okay. You have been a microbiologist for four years and survived it so you should survive this. I think you have enough experience. I am going to university to study healthcare science so I can be a microbiologist like yourself. They will ask basic question like how long have you been in research stuff like that. deep breaths..... :yy:

Has anyone else not yet had the email asking for location preferences?
They have specifically said that its not a reflection on whether we were successful or not but it doesn't fill me with confidence!

I didn't receive that email either but when I logged into my account on milk round, it was saying to enter preferences but the only thing I did is that I had already given them name of hospital before this preferences thing started so I thought that might be the reason behind not receiving that email but to be honest I am a bit worried about this as well. Fingers crossed. Hope for the best.

Many congratulations and thank you for letting us know.

I can't believe how nerve racking the waiting is. Hopefully all the emails will come through soon though. Do you mind me asking which trust in London you had the offer for? London was one of the regions I selected.
Im getting more and more paranoid as the time passes thinking that they're leaving the rejections till last which is why I haven't heard :P Well done Salmon though!

Hey Salmon, Can I ask your Surname plz plz? wondering on which sequence they are sending the e-mails?

Was London your first preference? Because you get London (the most demanding), there is a possibility that they are sending according to the ranked list, and may be you are among the tops...

I am just hoping your surname starts with 'A'... because mine starts with 'Z'!!!! and I didnt get any reply so far...

Well done to everyone who has offers!!!! And good luck to anyone still frantically refreshing their inboxes!

Did anyone feel like they completely mucked up a station and still get an offer? I had my interview for Cardiac Science today, where the specialism specific questions went great but the NHS-based one completely threw me off! So now I'm having a nice little flap about it haha
