This thread has been so quiet, how's everyone getting on?

I'm currently rushing to finish my dissertation and revise for my finals.

Been offered a job too as a biomedical scientist, so the pressure is certainly on!!

Hi. You are VERY lucky to have found a job, the Tories screwed up my chances for placement (yes, I'm ranting about it again).
I did my dissertation a few weeks ago. Just had a viva voce on 4 different studies (I presented the fifth last week) and a beast of an exam remains..

Ahh man you had to do viva's? I'm fortunate that we don't have them (I hope I don't get called for one at least!)

Yeah I was offered a job in the same lab I did my placement - they recently took on 4 posts as we are only just switching from on-call to shifts in Wales under Agenda for Change - I am incredibly lucky, even more so that they are willing to wait an extra month while I clear my exams and pay me on a trainee salary until my HCPC registration can be obtained!

My project was delayed due to situations out of my control, been given an extension until June 7th (actual deadline was today!) and its putting me under massive pressure to try and get it written up as quickly as possible so it doesn't impact on exam revision too much! (3 exams in May)


Any ideas on what you are going to do for work? If NHS was your plan, as you know training posts are rare so I would look for an MLA position and get your foot in the door ready for when they want to take on a trainee.

yup vivas, presentations, essays, case studies, (use to have MCQs in 1st year), reports, review articles, dissertations...we have it all

Yeh...I'm feeling screwed up by Conservatives. MLA would be great, but even places for that are ridiculously rare. idk tbh...One of my lecturers is encouraging me to do a Masters, I may look into it after exams (too much stress for the time being!).

Yeah we had all that too, minus the viva's. That's enough procrastination for me for one day, I need to get on with my dissertation. Good luck in your exams!

lol, I agree where the clotting factors are concerned...All I remember from that lecture is the phrase "clotting factor"

My exam wasn't too bad. YEY FOR MICROCYTIC ANAEMIAS. Glad I never have to do that **** again.

This is a bit of a random question but do you think I would be able to teach science at secondary level after completing a biomedical science degree,or do you think it would be better to opt for
something like biochemistry ?
