Msc Marine Biology -Which University?

Hi there!
I'm hoping to apply and study Marine Biology program this fall but was wondering if anyone knows a good Uni for this subject?

Thanks very much for your help!

Small list: Swansea and Portsmouth are equipped with wildlife fieldwork and considered as leading programmes, maybe Liverpool

I reiterate that it depends on your research interest and fieldwork exposure. Otherwise just take any on the list if you are a smart ass.

Thanks.

There are very diverse courses listed in your post. Subsea Engineering is completely different to Tropical Coastal Managament, and neither are like Ecology & Environmental Biology.

Whilst his/her reply is blunt, Tcannon has a point. You really need to narrow down what you, personally, are interested in. Maybe if you got the list down to four or five, someone could give you meaningful advice. Many of the courses you list won't necessarily involve marine biology, which was your initial interest. For example, Subsea Engineering at Aberdeen is geared towards employment in the offshore oil and gas industries and can probably be crossed off. You need to check out the course modules and start by weeding out those which don't include significant marine biology options, if you're serious about going in that direction.

Bangor, Essex and Plymouth offer postgrad Marine Biology courses, also Cork if you want to go further afield.

A question which might help, is what are you trying to achieve by doing the course? Do you just want to spend a year or two researching in a field which interests you? Do you want to improve your employability? Do you want to go into industry, academia or a more altruistic conservation area? Is the university or town/city where you study, an important factor? What about course fees - do you need something cheaper or is money no problem?
