What do you have to do?

It's a bunch of questions about static electricity and lightning.

Lmao! Did you know.....
I used to cry every single day In December/January because of Physics. In fact, once i even cried in front of 2 teachers. That was bad, the tears just leaked out.

I did however cover static electricity and lightening. Are you OCR?

What causes static electricity?

What causes lightning?

How is lightning related to static electricity?

What are some of the effects of static electricity on matter? Use some examples from everyday life.

Describe how an electroscope works to detect static electricity.

Why is it better not to use metals to use static electricity?

Describe how Ben Franklin proved that lightning was static electricity.

How can static electricity damage a computer?

How is lightning different to a spark?

What causes thunder?

Name several uses of static electricity.

Describe how static electricity can be used to control air pollution.

Yeah, I know, a lot, and I left it too late, but if you could answer even one or two, I'd be sooooooooo grateful!

Girls school? Was physics that bad? I don't like it, but I don't think it's that bad!

No, I'm on AQA!

!

Static electricty can cause dirt to be attracted to TV screens, and clothes to 'cling' to each other and the body

Name several uses of static electricity.

It can be used in paint spraying, whereby the paint spray is positively charged and the object you want to paint is negatively charged. The paint droplets are attracted to the object and repel each other giving an even coat

Describe how static electricity can be used to control air pollution.

I assume this is referring to the dust precipitation, that remove harmful and dust particles in chimneys? If it is:

a metal grid is inserted into the inside of the chimney, which is negatively charged, and further above are two metal plates on the inside wall of the chimney, positively charged

The smoke is passed through the grid and becomes negatively charged.

The dust particles are then attracted to the positively charged plates and removed from the smoke. Thus making the smoke cleaner

Those are the only ones I know sorry  some of that is on our course some isn't!

Lol ok... Fletchers answers look more realistic. I thought the answer was something like all the negative charges collecting and then transferring to ...(lol you can sooo tell i hate physics)

Haha probably girls school. Though lots of girls do enjoy physics... Just the majority hate it and last years teacher was a nut.

I don't see how that first one is any better than yours, just more intricate.
I'd much rather make the effort to look up the answers to my Spanish textbook questions online than bother with Spanish :pierre:
