Lord, I'm having the same problem with the Unification of Italy! It's such a brief description of most of the events that there is no way to remember. I remember the most ridiculous points like Garibaldi (or was it Mazzini?) was a swashbuckling adventurer and one of them retired with a year's supply of pasta or some nonsense!

I did AS last year, Unification of Germany and Fascist Italy (that's what you mean by rise and fall of liberal Italy right?)

Anyway, my advice would be to learn the different arguments for the key questions. E.g. Why did Mussolini come to power? Rise of Fascists, socialist threat, liberal weaknesses etc. If you can learn enough about each of these factors, you should be able to answer the questions no problem. Do you use the Access to History books? They do this really well. If not, it should be in whatever textbook you're using, just a little harder to find.

When I did the exam last year, I got 60%, a C. But I retook in January, and got an A. And that was from effectively writing what I'd revised from the key question about Mussolini's economic success.

Hope this helps, good luck!

P.S. In January the Qs were "To what extent was Italy a great power 1896-1914/18 (can't remember which date)?" and "To what extent were Mussolini's economic policies a success?". I'd expect a question on Mussolini's rise to power, or that 1918-23 time period in some way to come up, as in the last exam the questions were on pre-Mussolini and his regime.

I already have all the notes, just not the memory! But thank you! And it's nice to know that other schools have the joy of the unification of both Germany and Italy!
