Hey, I'm doing English and Scottish literature
I'm sure you'll be fine, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
Okay well I'll answer this by each question :P
1. Fair enough, as like you say you might want to save money. On the online application it lets you rank accomodation from 1-5 in order of preference. Esslemont is £104 a week and it's newly renovated flats, they're really nice!
2. Oh okay, but you'll be friends with your flatmates and people you meet on your course, and people at clubs and societies you join. Just think, loads of people stay in flats and they socialise just fine, so I think if you go to uni with the right mindset it doesn't really matter where you stay. But I guess rooms in the corridors have the advantage of a whole lot people on one floor which is good, but I don't think you'll be at a disadvantage socially opting for a flat.
3. Alrighty then, well it's really up to you at the end of the day haha, but most flats are single-sex anyway, and it tends to be like boys flats on one floor, girls on others, so it's pretty likely you will be in single sex accomodation.
4. By that do mean on a day-to-day basis or in terms of a lease? For leases they're all round about between 37 and 40 something weeks. On a daily basis that kinda depends. If you're doing a busy course you'll be in lectures more, if you join a lot of clubs/societies you'll be out more, if you like partying you'll be doing that, so really just depends on you and what you like to do
Fyfe, like Adam Smith and Wavell was renovated in 2010 so the kitchens are modern, and the bedrooms are pretty big too, there's a lot of picture on the uni website!
