Perfect exam for me. The only thing that slightly worried me was the central government question. Was worded quite weirdly.

Oh, god, that question was horrible for me! I revised Backbench MPs to death but the wording of the question completely threw me off. I'm so annoyed i messed it up! :s-smilie:

What did you do for it?

Two people in my class answered that question despite us not covering that topic area in class. I think they have failed MS.

I just did cabinet influences vs parliament influences. So prime ministers influences.. backbench influence... pressure groups.. select committees... whips... that sort of thing.

Does anybody know if markers are really strict or quite lenient? If percentages or facts are wrong do they give you marks for the point and analysis regardless?

If you said 96% voted labour but 35% actually did, them they won't credit but if it is
Minor and unnoticeable you'll be fine, positive markinggg

The wording threw me off since it sounded like one of the H & W questions. How did you tackle the question btw?

I did;
Education has been made free in rural areas but theres still large ineq
Healthcare costs have been assisted with but rural standards are poor etc,
and SEZ's have successfully reduced unemployment etc but theres still a large pay gap.

Sorry for the excitement, it's just only 2 are doing it at my school next year, so it's a rarity to find someone else!

Really?! There's quite a few of us on TSR it seems:biggrin:
We shall have to get a wee thread going when we start the course in June!
I got a bit stuck on the second question in the DME (As part of the 10 marker's) but I think I got it in the end. Was it just me that thought source C3 about socio-economic fingymajiggy was confusing as hell?

I did roughly the same:

SEZs:

boosted China's economy

led to increase in middle classes

Mass FDI has led to more westernized lifestyles

However:

Factory workers exploited

Those in rural areas have not benefitted equally

Private Enterprise:

Being rich is encouraged

Created many wealthy people in China

Richest man has 12.6 billion USD

Capitalist approach lifted many out of poverty

HOWEVER:

Not all Chinese citizens have become rich

Rural tax still too high

10% of poorest live in less than 1USD each day

Richest 10% of pop hold over 45% of the wealth

China Gini Coefficent very high

Education:

9 year free compulsory education

relaxation of Hukou allowed migrant children better opportunities, however still difficult for them to access education

Private schools for the rich

Govt have spent more money on improving rural schools

Urban/ Rural income gap has decreased

Healthcare:

Two tier-system with one for rich and poor

Private healthcare easily afforded by the wealthy

Poor increasing use of "black clinics"

2/5th blame financial problems on health costs

China 187th out of 191 countries for unequal access to healthcare

Since 2009, Govt spent money on reforming system

Pledge for 2020 to introduce new system

I hope that my essay actually answers the question. I am not sure :s-smilie:.

Yes! Perhaps I am simply a thicko, but I wasted about 5 whole minutes staring agog at the silly diagram.
