MR M, what was question 7ii and how did you go about it? If I can remember correctly I found the min point using dy/dx and then just said x<min point (cannot remember co-ordinate).

I appreciate you putting up these answers

7ii) Solve (2x4)(x3)12(2x-4)(x-3) \leq 12

Expand the brackets and simplify (make one side of the inequality zero). Sketch the quadratic inequality and state the answer.

for quadratic graph had intersection of (1.5,0) (-2,0) instead of (-1.5,0) (2,0)

How many marks lost?

Mr. M, if I did all the correct workings for 10i but got k = 4, then did all the correct workings for 10iii but then got the wrong coordinates, how many marks would I lose? Would I get all the marks for ECF, or if not, how many would I lose?

Lose 1 for 10i) and 1 or 2 at the end.

On the last question I got (1,0) and I put it in and it worked I don't know where I went wrong :/

Can someone please explain this to me (ii) (5 marks) , I think I got that and then changed it to x>0 or x<5 , how many marks will I lose?

Lose 1.

could you maybe take a photo of the paper and post it?

It's copyright. I can't do that.

Lose 1.

For the decreasing function question, I accidentally did dy/dx = 4x+1
So I got x < -1/4
How many marks will I drop?
For question 6ii where you have to find B (-2,-10), I know the correct method to find it is via considering the centre of the circle (M) as the mid point and working from that (A + B)/2 = M.
But how many marks would I lose (if any) for solving it by considering they are directly opposite in a straight line and they are an equal distance from M so getting from A to M is the same as going from M to B so adding that difference to M. i.e. (2,2) to (0,-4) is going -2 in x and -6 in y therefore A is at (0-2,-4-6) = (-2,-10). Will this lose me a working mark, in your opinion?

Thanks for the answers btw

what was 6ii and 9iii I forgot the questions

6ii) The point A (2, 2) lies on the circumference of C. AB is a diameter, find B.

9iii) y=4 meets the curve y=2x^2-x-6 at P and Q. Find PQ.

any suggestions on why for the last part of question 10 i got (1,0)?! I differentiated the equation given then equated it to 9 assuming they would have the same gradient, as y=9x-9 was the tangent to the curve. lots of questions, sorry!

Your method is ok.

sorry, for question 5)i) what was the correct sketch
For the very last part, i correctly calculated x=0 and x=-2, showing all my working. I then had no idea, so I then guessed and put x=-2 y=-27 underneath. I wrote that down but didn't put any working and didn't obviously exclude x=0. Will I get all the marks?
Thanks for the answers!
MR MMMMMMMM!!!!!!

You know you said you couldn't put up the paper but you could tell us what the question was - well, what was the full last question? Just cause I want another stab at it!

Thanks!!!

Does anyone roughly remember the questions for 4iii and 7i, I'm not exactly sure what answer i put and i feel it may help jog my memory with the question, other than these I feel i maxed the paper  yey

4iii) Calculate the discriminant of 3x^2 + 9x + 10

7i) Solve 3 - 8x > 4
Original post by James_01
for the question on the radius and center of a circle i got the center correct but for the radius i put
(24-16)^1/2 instead of (24+16)^1/2 and hence ended up with 8^1/2 as my radius. I was wondering how many marks i will drop out of 3? Also i got all the other questions right but i really need to get 100 ums on this pape,r does dropping 1 or 2 marks now mean i cant get 100?

Drop 1. No-one NEEDS 100 UMS - it isn't that important.

If we got the correct inequality but didn't draw the sketch?

And if, for the transformation question, we wrote down y=2/((x+5)^2) and then expanded it? Any marks lost either way?

Hi,

(New to TSR) Been put through this AS a year early :/ and by checking the mark sheme, it looks like ive scored about 50/72.

I was hoping for an A but doubt the boudaries will be that low! Anyone got a good guess what it might equate to??

Thanks
