CIA agent arrested in Moscow - reports

A US undercover agent has been arrested in Moscow for allegedly trying to recruit a Russian intelligence officer, Russian media report.

The alleged CIA agent was detained overnight, the Federal Security Service (FSB) was quoted as saying.

He is said to have been working as a secretary at the US embassy in Moscow.

The man was arrested with a large sum of money, technical devices and written instructions for the agent he had tried to recruit.

"FSB counter-intelligence agents detained a CIA staff member who had been working under the cover of third political secretary of the US embassy in Moscow," officials told the Interfax news agency.

"At the moment of detention, special technical equipment was discovered, written instructions for the Russian citizen being recruited, as well as a large sum of money and means for altering appearance."

Russia still has spies both in the US and the UK, a substantial amount of them, this is common knowledge. The Cold War is over, espionage was only a small part of it.

Tbh accusations of spying are not rare occurrences.

If it was common knowledge it would neither be called espionage or the people spies...

The fact that that you have a considerable number of foreign spies inside any given country tells you nothing about their identities, that is why these people are called spies.

You have no idea what youre talking about do you? You have no idea if their is 1 spy in england or 1000,000. Talk sense.

Your fallacy is so basic that I don't even want to explain why exactly you're wrong. You get a general idea of how substantial the leaks are if you employ a halfway decent intelligence service and based on this information you can establish how exposed you are and get a general idea how many foreign agents are around and how they are operating.
