Harvard Referencing Help!

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”
- Benjamin Franklin

I want to reference this quote, I got it from:
http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/learning

But I know I have to double back and reference Benjamin Franklin, however I read that the quote isn't even Franklin's, can someone help me? And how do I cite/reference this! Thanks :frown:

I don't think you need to reference... the point of referencing quotes is to give credit to the sources and works you're using... a famous quote doesn't really need to be referenced, since there are loads of places you can find the EXACT same information, and it doesn't add original ideas to your essay.

e.g. from my own english coursework...

'...only self-definition is required for empowerment. As Aristotle once said, “If you cannot befriend yourself, how can you befriend anyone else?” The quest to find...'

You could put the website in a bibliography right at the end: "Quotes about learning", http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/learning [14 May 2013]: Goodreads, Inc.

Thanks for replying!
Do you think it matters that it isn't for definite Benjamin Franklin?

I googled and found this:

Not really, I don't think whoever is marking your essay is likely to be an expert on Benjamin Franklin and will penalise you because the quote might not actually be his!
