Cambridge offers -- second-hand?

Offers and rejections are sent out at the same time - received in the post around the beginning of January.
The only other option is the Winter Pool where the college you applied to doesn't want to reject you, they would rather offer your application to another college first.
You would receive a letter, telling you that you are pooled at the same time as the other letters. It is then a waiting game for either an offer or a rejection.

Hi this might sound like a stupid question but can something like this happen? So if Cambridge sends out offers and a small group of people (and there are people like this) DID NOT firm Cambridge. Will these chances go to others in the same application year, AND THEN rejections are sent out? Or are offers and rejections sent out at once an what's done is done?

When deciding how many offers to make, they will take into account the fact that some applicants will decide not to come or fail to meet their offer. Offers and rejections (and pooling) happen at about the same time.
