Coursework is 20%... So theoretically I should be able to get an A*

That's quite a low percentage, so you'll do it! And it's only statistics anyway!

Yep, I have at least 15% right?

So should need 75% more from 80%

ok, so we get a question like:

we use the identity sin/cos=tan
sin theta/cos theta = 3/4
tan theta = 3/4

you type tan^-1(3/4) onto your calculator for the principal value. Sketch a graph and using the graph's symmetry you can work out the other values within the region.

Do you know what the graphs look like?

Yes, I do. Thank you very much

It is to do with a graph. Sin is positive in the first region (where you leave the angle as the found acute one) and the second (180-acute gives answer). Tan is positive in the first and third (180+acute angle) and cos in first and final (360-acute). Look up the trig graph as it will probably help to make sense of what I just said.

If the angle required is negative, then you go to the regions where it is negative, eg region 3 and 4 for sin.

Hope this helps you. I have a slightly inappropriate method of remembering the order I can PM you if you want

The regions are the 0 to 90, 90 to 180 etc. right?
Thank you and that PM would be great

That's just stupid! The school cares more about sucking up to OFSTED than your grades. How much I detest this system is beyond words!

Well done! why do you think statistics was marked wrong? Aside from the obvious fact that you could never get such a low grade if you tried!

ikr they are pricks

To contrast, my school was told by OFSTED to pick up their **** with MFL.

Look how that turned out :colonhash:

It's awful, I really hate how such important subjects are totally disregarded.

That's good for your school, and OFSTED does do some good, but from what I've seen, it is mostly negative. Though obviously I don't know what goes on behind the scenes.
