Didn't think the exam was too bad actually compared to some previous papers. Guessing the boundaries will be high though!

Hope everyone did well and thanks to Mr M for always being reliable with mark schemes after exams

Would there be any problem in quoting the angles in the first question to 1dp?

Second question? No.

Mr M,

Also for question 9(ii) I did the algebraic division with 2x+1 and got 0 as an end result and then commented that the 0 remainder meant that (2x+1) is a factor of f(x). Would this still be proof of (2x+1) being a factor?

Yes

What would you guess is the 100 UMS boundary for this year? Maybe 70/72?

I don't guess.

I think the grade boundaries on this exam will be quite low due to it being a hard exam and core 1 on monday being so easy

The difficulty of a Core 1 paper cannot affect Core 2 grade boundaries.

You are welcome.

for 9.iii) i done everything right but left my answer in degrees cos they had no decimal places. how many marks do you think i'd lose? thanks
For the perimeter question 5(ii) I calculated the length BD using the formula 2rsin(θ/2) which gave me 12.461....
I then added this to 12.8 and 9 to give an answer of 34.3cm (3sf).
How many marks would I lose for this and why isn't this correct?

You need to read the question more carefully. Lose 1 mark.
Mr M,

two qquestions for the N=17 question, I got N=17.2 how many marks would I lose?

Also the final question, I got the three values but I wrote (pie) twice, would I lose any marks?

thanks

I have no idea where that formula appeared from! Drop 2 marks.

Can you leave the answer for the trapezium question as a fraction and gain full marks?

I'll be around a bit this afternoon and then part of this evening to answer questions. Please post in this thread rather than sending me private messages.

Shouldn't 9(iii) be 5pie/3 not 4pie/3?
Also how did you get the answer to 7(ii). I got 1.9

For the area under the curve how many would I drop for, writing down it was the integral- the area of the triangle. I messed up calculating the x coordinate so in the end just guessed it as 2, in a last ditch effort :P

also for question 8 didn't b have to be a negative number?

I put b as -2 at it was y=4b^x and it crossed the y-axis at (0,4) which is only possible is b is negative.

223532 - \frac{2}{3} \neq \frac{5}{3}

7ii) Find the equation of the tangent, then where the tangent meets the x axis. Now calculate the area of the triangle and subtract this from the value of the integral provided previously.
Original post by Mr M
Of course.

For 7ii) :
I wrote, Area = 37/30 = 1.23 (3sf)
then underlined the decimal, does this lose a mark?
Thanks in advance
