Me too! People are saying age of snakes and health etc :s-smilie:

Nah age and health would be wrong.. Its snakes not humans

Posted from TSR Mobile

Doesn't matter if the snakes aren't humans, health of snakes still needs to be considered for reliable results

2d was species diversity increasing question,

Greater number of habitats/ niches
Greater variety of food sources
Greater number of species, and number of individuals survive

Something like that...

Posted from TSR Mobile

You mean decreasing because the question said something about use of agriculture

Well that exam was all over the place. Don't know what to think. Grad boundary predictions anyone?

For the times per minute I put 7.5 because on the graph you lined up the two points that it started and ended which was in 16 seconds... 60 divided by 16 is 3.75 then multiplied by 2 was 7.5

Why were there like 4 calculations and too many hsw questions :frown:

ill start:
Question 1
a) Centromer
b) joins to spindle fibers in metaphase
c) different alleles
d) chromosomes not replicated into sister chromatids as figure 2 is prior to synthesis.
e) 3 chromosomes- 1 from each homologus pair( ie. one long,1 medium and one short)

Question 2
a)similar organisms capable of breeding to produce fertile offspring
b) groups withing larger groups with no overlap
c) groups based on evolutionary relationships
d)cant remember

some one please quote me and continue...

Question 1
a) Centromere
b) joins to spindle fibers in metaphase and pulled apart in anaphase
c) different alleles
d) chromosomes not replicated into sister chromatids as figure 2 is prior to synthesis.
e) 3 chromosomes- 1 from each homologous pair( ie. one long,1 medium and one short)
f)crossing over

Question 2
a)similar organisms capable of breeding to produce fertile offspring
b)6.9 something
c)destruction of plants and growing of 1 dominating crop means less food sources, habitats for insects and use of pesticides

Question 3
a) groups within larger groups with no overlap
b) groups based on evolutionary relationships
c) animal A because least difference in amino acid sequence therefore DNA similar as DNA codes for amino acids
d)same number of differences however may code for different amino acids
f)hemoglobin not found in all organisms while respiration occurs in all

someone else continue

On the chromosome picture question it said draw what the chromosomes would look like after MEIOSIS. That means that you have to shade in the ends of one or two of them to show the "crossing over part".
Also on the snake one it said in the question suggest two factors OTHER than age. So i put same time for experiment to take place and same environmental conditions eg temperature

Gut feeling I think 57-60 will be an A on this one because it was a really really tough paper

what did everyone get for the percentage increase and the Amish population?

I got 342% and 250,000

I got 342 but I got 37500

Do you not do 1250X30?

1 In 30 have the genetic disorder

1250:37500 is 1:30 ratio

i put a piece of people with males lipids on lol

I did too lol :colondollar: hmm seemed legit at the time... What were the people writing this exam thinking? Rambling on about snakes and courtship for 4 pages! A bit extreme and random.
Reply 3436
Why there were so many HSW is beyond me, surely they should be testing us predominantly on our knowledge and not some stupid **** like snakes and Amish people. Totally ****. Saying that I think I still did pretty well :P
Reply 3437
%diff was 429%
But are you supposed to removed the original 100% from it?

No, 1 in 30 of the original founders of the Amish people had the disorder. 1 in 200 was the number of people who had it. So you did 1250*200=250,000.

I also got 342%.

Pretty easy paper, think I've got an A. Standard.
