OCR GCSE Psychology Studies and Applications Unit 1 (3rd June 2013)

Anybody did Psychology Unit 1 today? If so, does anyone have any comments concerning the exam? Also, can anyone possibly construct an unofficial mark scheme for me to estimate my mark? Or, does anyone know where an unofficial mark scheme can be found for the exam? Feel free to discuss on my thread.

Tell me about it!!! I did 2 past papers on the last 2 days before the exam. The January 2012 paper had Watson and Rayner's study as the 10 mark question, and the June 2012 paper had Bickman's study as the 10 mark question. I absolutely hate Watson and Rayner's study, and I totally adore Bickman's study. I was shocked when Bickman's study came up. I never expected it. Personally, I thought that Diamond and Sigmundson's study would be the 10 marker. R U gonna sit Unit 2 on Friday?

And the questions on memory and atypical behaviour were in the incredibly easy half of the paper and they're my two worst topics, with attachment and obedience being my best- so it was great! And yeah I'm sitting paper 2 on Friday, I'm not feeling as good with that one, I hate perception and cognitive behavior SO much... Any ideas what might come up?

Hi, glad you all feel confident about the unit 1 paper you did, I didn't do it but others in my class also felt confident too  I'm sitting the unit 2 paper on Friday and feeling really worried even though I've prepared quite a bit. Hope they're nice to us!

You're doing better than me! I've had barely any time to prepare for this paper, Piaget's theory is sooo long :frown:

Piaget's theory is quite straightforward, although I have to admit that it's quite long. It's quite rare that they will ask you to describe his theory as a 4 marker, or to also evaluate it and make it a 6 marker. I think they may just ask U to evaluate it, or give 2 criticisms of it. Have U done any past papers? If so, what have U achieved?

No I haven't done past papers for unit 2 yet, only unit 1... I'm going to do one tomorrow and hopefully I'll get an A/A* but we'll see... and I just checked through all the past papers apart from the January 2013, because it's not available, but perception and cognitive development have come up twice for the 10 marker, unlikely for them to come up again?

I'm sure you'll do well, some prep is better than no prep! Hopefully cognitive doesn't come up, I don't feel too confident on the study. I've done two past papers for unit 2 and I've done okay, just hope I can repeat for the real exam tomorrow or get even better!

I'm sure you'll do well, at least with psychology you know which topics are coming up and the general structure/what they're going to ask you  I'm more worried about the research methods on Tuesday, just because I haven't done much about that one yet! Cramming weekend ahead. Good luck for tomorrow

How did you guys find it? Good luck for research methods, I'm worried about research methods too as we also haven't done much work for it all! Haha i'll be cramming too  I found the paper today okay apart from a couple of questions on criminal behaviour and I had a complete brain fart at the 10 mark question but it was okay in the end

It was much harder than Monday's paper, but overall I think I did well... got a bit stumped on the evaluation for the SLT of non verbal communication and the 10 marker was okay... oh well... I hope it went alright hahah! Yeah I have like 8 exams next week, so I'm hoping very much for a nice paper on Tuesday! I'm sure we'll be fine for it though

Ah, I'm fine at everything apart from planning our own investigation but to be honest, we have an hour to figure it out! An hour for such a short paper is a blessing I swear...
