AQA Graphic Products- Help With Revision Please!

Hi,
I have my Graphics exam on the 6th, and as much as I want to revise I really don't know where to start. Is anybody here doing this exam? And if so, could you maybe give me a basic outline of what you're planning on revising? It's just that it's on stamps, and well.. stamps?! Lol I really don't know what to do! I can do all of the design work fine, just the theory if anybody could help me with this!!
Thanks.

Amazing! I was JUST about to make this same thread!
Anyway, i'd also like to know how the wise ones will be revising...but in particular, can anyone advise me on the exam technique?
You see, my graphics teacher is a bit of a nut and he's the kind of teacher that's simply just not qualified (despite being a laugh of a teacher).
So, exam technique? Particularly about the questions that ask about 'Develop this..' and 'Produce ideas...'. I want to know whether you make a storyboard of diagrams showing development? Or 5 or 6 different ideas with one common aspect?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

You just need to revise!!!! - think of some design and ideas.

Anyways, what did you people get on your graphics cousework out of 95. Me, 91 - can i still get an A*???

Yes - you can still get an A*. I got full marks on coursework and then got an A overall, so don't know what happened there.

I found graphics hard to revise for, and in the end didn't do that much. Just try and think of as many designs as possible. Also look at the help sheet thing the exam board give you, there might be clues at what you need to revise.

Look on BBC Bitesize, and check out past papers and examiners' reports.

 91! That's awesome! Think of the people who got..say 82..like me. You can much easily get an A* compared to me.

Grade A* doesn't exist for coursework when you do AQA DT and it is worked out arithmetically of exam + coursework, 91 is an excellent mark and you stand a great chance of getting an A* providing you do well in the exam paper, but you can blag your way through and still end up with an A*. Remember to blag cleverly and DT is really common sense with some specialist knowledge.

Anyway, all the best of luck to all of you, personally I'm doing AQA DT Resistant Materials and I can about 60 marks in advance.

A* is incredibly hard to get. Noone in our school got it. I got 106/110 on my coursework, which was a high A and got a A overall. I have my AS Graphics tomorrow, when you have your G.C.S.E. (Are you morning aswell?)
For revision, I would suggest learning Vacuum forming, Offsetlithography, symbols, like the recycling one. Do you know what your exam will be on?

According to my DT Teacher, there's already been an exam on packaging. I can't remember which year it is, but go through the past papers. He thinks it will be similar to that.

Hi isn't it out of 90 mark? i got 90/90 so i'm on a A* and if you do get an A* life is much easier to get an A* over all because you have to work less harder however that being said you can still bomb out in the exam as some ppl do so try to aim at a low A plus the grade boundaries for these exam are quite low.

With 90/90 on the coursework what would you need (approximately) in the exam for an A* overall? Failing that what do you think an A overall would be too?
I'm only asking because let's put it this way, my knowledge of the theory is not the best, and I don't really have any technique for section A :/

I cant really tell you that because the grade boundaries move up and down each year and they convert into ums marks so its hard to convert raw marks to ums marks but i would say try to get at least 60 which i think is a mid C in the exam paper what did u get in you corsework?

Yeah, sorry, I appreciate its such a hard question to predict... I got 90, but its being sent off for moderation so it's not definite. I'm rather worried about this exam if I'm honest compared to other subjects. Are you preparing anything for Section A? It's just I'm clueless as to how to deal with such a vague brief.

Well my teacher said its very likely to be on chocolates or perfume as its to promote so what i have been doing is making nets and shapes for them so when it comes to the exam i don't have to make anything on the spot i can email you some stuff if you want or FB/twitter anything to help

Hmm, I'm doing the exam on Tuesday 11th as well.. the exam 'theme' is 'Promotional Packaging'. As said before, a bit vague but there was an exam on this previously. Our teacher hasn't told us what we got but some idea of the results has leaked () and I'm between 80-90/90... So I can aim to get a B/A and get an A/A* overall - HOPEFULLY.

I've got 87 unmoderated, so we worked out in class if I get around 10 raw I should get a C which made me so happy!

I need like 54 to get an A which wont happen haha!

With full marks on the coursework, you need a mid-high B in the exam. I don't know what mark that would be because it changes every year but last year it would have been 70/120 (58%) and the year before it was 65/120 (54%) and the year before that it was 66/120 (55%), so I'm guessing around 60% to be safe.

Thank you! I'm rather worried about this exam. How many nets would you say is a safe amount to remember to cover section A? I'm thinking 3 just in case one isn't appropriate. The brief is so vague!
