that's all I did too. probs just the one mark.

Damn. It seems so obvious now that k should be pi/6 grrrrr
The fact that there were loads of messy calculations made me think I was doing it wrong all the time...

Can I get full marks on 8a by using inspection, I got the right answer I think?

Same. I think I went over the easy questions a few times each because the calculations were so chaotic.

Absolutely. It would be ridiculous if they didn't give you the full marks as long as you got the right answer at the end too.

Yeah, so then I was rushed to do the harder questions. Wahhh... I'd personally say this paper was harder than January 13.

I'm not completely sure but I think it's (-3, -11, 10).

Could you run over your working of how you found E?

I think you should change Edexcel to AQA in your name.

Anyone remember what the last two parts of question 2 were? The alpha and beta one

Trying to compose a mark scheme

for findng the value of k , i thought it was degrees so i put k=30 as then 12x30 = 360 , how many marks would i lose for this ?

Atleast you attempted the harder questions :frown:. I left the last question out D:

It was something to do with finding cos and sin beta so it might have been involving sin(2beta)? I'll update if I remember

For that vector question, where it said find E, did anybody think/do this.

Okay so they said the area of triangle ACD is 3 times the area of ACE.

So seeing AC remains the same for both triangles, the only thing that changes is the distance of the base (CD or CE).

I worked out the |CD| to be rt17 then surely |CE| must be 3rt17

Then I work out the |CE| in terms of mu and got as far as u^2 = +3 or -3.

Then put the back into the general vector for OE and you get E is either (-3,11,10) or (9,7,-2)?

I think the last part was: Prove cos(alpha - beta) = 2/5 (k +sqrt5)

good to know someone got the same as me!!!

I'm pretty sure the equation was 32x/ tcos(t*pi/4)

My working led to:

16x^2 = (4t/pi)(sin(t*pi/4)) + (16/pi^2)(cos(t*pi/4))

when x=4 and t=0, this gives c= 256 - 16/pi^2

Nooooo how the hell did I just get 16/pi^2 for c? :frown:

Oh noooo :frown: That was an evil paper.
What did anyone get for part E of the vectors equation?? I got 17u = 3x(17) and u = plus or minus three or something like that that ?!

I got 44% in the January 2013 paper, and this was worse phaha EVERYONE CHILL OUT YOURE ALL TSR CLEVERS!

I guess doing past papers was pretty useless....
2008 to Jan 2013 doable June 2013 crazy hard
2008-Jan2013
Exponential growth and decay
Rsin(x+y)

Knowing that 2X-1=0 calculate the mass of the sun to 6 s.f.

hopefully grade boundaries are really low
