I was thinking between Finnish and Russian. I figure that they're more unusual and interesting and harder to just teach yourself?
I like the sound of Russian, but not thought much about Finnish before. Might sound stupid but what alphabet does Finnish use? Is it the same as ours or different?

Yeah, with some vowels that have umlauts. But the vowels with umlauts are used very frequently in Finnish.

So would you say it would be slightly easier to learn than Russian? As I could pronounce the words better and spell better?

Russian isn't too bad, learn the alphabet in 20 minutes I guess...

I have no idea, once you have the alphabet in Russian you do have some cognates because it is still an Indo-European language, but Finnish is not. Finnish will still have some cognates, but not as many I believe. Then again, they both have case systems, although I have no clue about Finnish pronunciation or spelling. I've not learnt either so can't really help much.

Well the session is only an hour, so if learning the alphabet will take extra time should I go with Finnish? Either way I doubt I'll learn huge amounts in the lesson, I'll just use it as a base to build up from.

I would pick Finnish, because it sounds so freaking cool. Or rather - there are at least a good few Finnish men with the hoarsest, growliest voices ever, and it is incredibly awesome to listen to.

Ah! Donc est-ce que tu aurai quatre A levels? Parce que je pense que je ne devrait que laisser tomber les mathématiques further. Je voudrais continuer simplement les mathématiques, et j'adore tous les sciences. Mais je ne veux pas faire trop. haha pourquoi est-GS merde?
