did you do the A* questions in the book?

What is the emperical formula of a phenoxide ion

Hi guys, what do you think about this:

If you had a molecule structured like an amino acid, except the R group had an amine and a carboxylic acid group on it, would the zwitterion have one pair of charges or two pairs, because it is still neutral overall either way?

will a phenol react with a carboxylic acid?

Yes in the prescence of an acid catalyst and heat, esterification will take place?

correct

this is where there are 2 optical isomers and only of the isomers are more effective , have the pharmaological effect , the required effect while the other isomer may lead to adverse side effects

This looks correct, my turn :smile:

glutamic acid is

h2nch(ch2ch2cooh)cooh

h2nch(ch2ch2cooh)cooh + ch3ch2oh---> h3n(+)ch(ch2ch2cooch2ch3)cooch2ch3
I will ask again.... What is the reagent and the observation that can distinguish between a ketone and an aldehyde?
