I agree with your working out, I can't seem to get their answer.

thank youuuu it's a relief that someone else is getting the same answer

can anyone help me out with the bit of the spec that states - 'factors affecting the choice of materials for the moderator, the control rods and the coolant and examples of materials used'

only ever seen water used as coolant and moderator, and haven't see even seen what materials that control rods are made out of ?
thanks

You won't be asked to derive it.... like I said you need to know its components.

& what assumptions have been made to form this ideal gas equation

I hope that you're right and that it doesn't come up, but (taken from the spec):

Molecular kinetic theory model
Explanation of relationships between p, V and T in terms of a simple molecular model.
Assumptions leading to and derivation of
pV = 1/3Nm(crms)2

Help!!!!!!!!!!

I have been entered for the wrong unit
i am suppose to do physics 5a astrophysics tomorrow

but my teacher has entered me for physics 5d turning points

what can i do?
anyone else praying for a 6 marker on balmer lines! soooo easy but they did it on june 2011 so i highly doubt it :frown: predicitions on the essay question? big bang? gases?
anyone help on core mod june 2012 qn 3bii plz i dont understand the eq they are using

You can either revise the key concepts of turning points.
Or you have to talk to exam officer. They might have a spare paper and ask them to correct it. It might be possible to sort it out. Examiner could ask AQA about this being a mistake and it could be solved. Go early to school and talk to exam officer.

That is awful :/

Just you or your whole class ? & why have you only found out now!

Go to school as early as you can and try and sort this out

WOAW....I would turn up early and speak to an examiner about this maybe they could photocopy an astrophysics paper in time and let the exam board know... hope you get the right unit tomorrow

I guess it wouldn't be illegal for them not to tell us to derive it.

However along with my physics teacher think its completely unlikely. And too time consuming for what is just subbing in values constantly....

you need to understand assumptions such as elastic collision ... and so on. That is the important bit - that shows that the student has understanding to what the ideal gas law means
This paper, I am going to fail. I know no Astrophysics whatsoever, excuse me while I weep myself to sleep.

I'm thinking evidence for the big bang theory. What could you say for 6 marks?

My teacher thinks its going to be Big Bang related too. Or stellar evolution

It's the count rate of the detector / (ratio detected * efficiency of the detector)
...one of the doggy application q's no formula to sub into :frown:

Feel the same... at least it's my last exam.

But will be miserable for some time for the start of summer if I completely screw this up!

Anyone willing to give a quick summary on evidence for the HBB?? I haven't really looked at it :frown:

It's my last too  You'll be fine though, you got 100UMS in Unit 4!
I'm just shocked at how I managed to neglect Astrophysics so thoroughly :L Done 2 past papers, scored two Bs...:frown:

Done 3 past papers... well I just sat there copying out the mark scheme

I was more prepared for unit 4 & I find unit 5 much harder n longer

Also I need 110 UMS to get an A, because of the frickin' ISAs

assuming the ISA gradeboundaries are unreasonable as always
What does coherent and monochromatic mean again?
