Lol at the amount of hatred coming out from a bunch of Murray fans. You were probably living under the rock last year so let me tell you that he did beat Murray/Nole on his way to the Wimbledon title last year, not to mention the bagel he dished out to Nole at Cincinnati. Nole/Murray are very lucky that Fed/Rafa are on the way out, because if these guys were still in their peak, Nole and Andy would be ranked #3 and#4, where they rightfully belong.

The difference is...Murray, Nadal and Djokovic, and many of the other players obviously including Stakhovsky from his post match interview, spend most the year around him and think he's a knob with an ego. That is well known.

You and your mates meet him for 30 seconds and got a quick moment of his PR smile and autograph.

I wonder which bunch of people is more likely to know the real Roger.

Says... you? If being "a knob with an ego" were to get me 17 GS, 77 titles, 302 weeks at 1, and numerous other records, I'd become one.

It's well known all right - to you. He is very well respected and liked on the whole in the locker room. If not for him and his campaign for higher pay cheques at Wimbledon and other Slams, players like Stakhovsky would be struggling to even keep their tennis careers afloat. They would never have been able to turn up to GS events that often or even receive decent coaching/training, let alone even think about beat a top player.

In fact, if not for him, his "ego" and his ridiculous level of play, we would not even have this era. He (and later Nadal) created their own demons, and now that they're both starting to slide, the unforgiving haters/fans of other players are ready to knock them while they're down.

I think it was one if the best opening weeks I could have hoped for as a Murray fan

Plus I always like to root for the underdogs anyway

The whole point is not that you'd take it, its that it is true...but many people think it's not. I take it you are some way to believing it by justifying the fact that he is through his wins....although many of his earlier ones against pretty crap players as I previously mentioned.

And it is well known, if you've followed the ins and outs of the interviews over the last 5 or so years. Particularly the very bad relationship between Djokovic and Federer.

Also, Federer was not the only player campaigning...Murray and Djokovic also played a big part by choice. Federer had to as head of the players committee.

I don't just knock him when he is down. I knock him all the time and always have, regardless of his winning status, since his real persona became apparent when Nadal came along and Djokovic started performing.

Looks like the riff-raff have well and truly settled en masse in this thread. Happens every single year at around Wimbledon time...

Stakhovsky himself was a big campaigner for higher pay cheques.

Of course he has an ego, but so do several other players. And Djokovic, and maybe even Rafa are nowhere near as saintly as you suggest. I'll leave Murray out of this because he gives away too little in his press conferences.
Watch Djoko's interviews before 2010/2009 and you'll see just what an arrogant knob he used to be. I used to really dislike him, but now funnily enough he's my 2nd favourite player. Then watch Rafa's reactions to losing against Rosol last year throughout the match (and a few other incidents).

As for Djokovic and Federer - they had a spat which began in 2006 when Djokovic tried all sorts of gamesmanship tactics against Wawrinka at Davis Cup, which irritated Roger. Then his equally arrogant mother made a statement at the beginning of 2008 saying "the king is dead" and other BS like that. Now however, they have done very well to repair their relationship and are actually on good terms. Djoko currently has the worst relationship with Rafa.

You really don't know anything about tennis do you? The reason behind Nole and Fed's bad relationship is due to Nole being a bit of wuss in his earlier career, not to mention his annoying parents. It has nothing to do with Federer's ego. When did you start watching tennis? Not so long ago it seems.

Agreed. No doubt we'll soon see reports of Murray walking on water over the Thames.

I'm sure he's happy with the outcome then. Without it, it gets way too difficult for younger players to even attempt to dent the Top Tier of men's tennis

About time too. Needs to be brought to an end ASAP to avoid transforming the thread into one of those pathetic men's tennis forums or B/R, which are designed specifically to bash every player in some way or another.

Lol at people attacking federrer. He used to be hot -headed and totally changed his mind-set to be more calm, how can you slate him for that? How many wimbeldons have you won btw?

I thought Fed had become good friends with Rafa since 09/10.

Wait what? I think you've quoted the wrong person. I've been defending Federer for the last hour or so. (And I totally love that video!)

and - 0 Wimby's and I'm proud of that

Yes, they seem to be the closest (I think I mentioned Djoko and Rafa's relationship as having broken down slightly)
Federer is also a father let us not forget, less socialising and more pressures from that on his life compared to the others. I respect everyone's right to a opinion but have some respect for one of the greatest of all time!

I know Djokovic is an arrogant knob. That is the whole point. He never tried to hide it, he openly mocked and mimicked all sorts of players on the tour. I absolutely loved him for that and am gutted he has been essentially forced to stop. My point is that everyone thinks Federer is some sort of saint, when in fact he is not.

And yes, that is one part of their relationship which soured, but you are wrong if you think that that is the only thing, they just plain don't get on. Nadal-Djokovic is a friendly rivalry...heated on court yes, but not backstage. Nadal gives Djokovic lots of praise, and vice versa. Murray Djokovic and Nadal are all incredibly tight.

Murray gives out nothing in his press conferences now, yes. But if you watched his earlier ones when he was about 18/19 he consistently lambasted people for calling him English, and had lots of good humour. Now he has been the wrong end of people saying he hates all things English, combined with people thinking Federer's closed personality is the way to go, he has become much more tepid.

You need to do more research...
