Computer science

Has anyone got an offer for G400 Computer science for Sheffield Hallam University ?

If so what are you studying and what GCSE Mathematics grade do you have ?

* I've been informed that I cannot be considered because of my grade C in maths : (

At the interview I was offered 280 UCAS points for computer science, but I wanted an insurance choice so I switched to software engineering for the lower requirements  I only have a B in GCSE maths, no A level maths at all.

I've done a little bit here and there, but nothing really significant. I keep meaning to do some and gain a little experience over the summer but every time I get frustrated because the compiler won't work and give up :s-smilie:

I don't think I mentioned programming at all on my personal statement, but I did mention a database system I made for something though, which they must have taken into account as the interviewer asked quite a few questions about it.

I know it's cheeky but nothing is stopping you from puttin the AS results on applications, and to my knowledge they count as doing a short basics course.

Also, to my knowledge, if you absolutely want to go with computer science, if you have pass or higher for the rest of the requirements, then request for a referral interview and impress them in the interview you can get in with that but you will be forced to take a lot of extra maths courses and to have a personal tutor.

It's whether you can convince them that they'll get a good return on there investment if they take the risk of letting in one that didn't quite meet requirements is all.

But you have to force your way in basically. And it won't always work, depends if there are still places when it comes to university clearings.

I didn't have all the correct grades for mine I didn't do enough work in college cause I was lazy, then snapped out of it too late, still got pretty close though which amazed me.
I'm not computer science, but related and less intensive course of Web design and Development, I'm going to specialise in the server architecture) but I had most of them and convinced them to let me onto the course anyhow, so it can be done, I'm gonna start my second year soon.

also kinda came to this thread cause I need to find a flat too this year, my flat all went on to different things, one to move in with his sport team, the other two I actually forgot, just know they're not in Sheffield next year.
