At least you're alive, Ledley

I don't understand how this has happened so quickly. Pep comes out this morning saying he wants Thiago and already a few hours later and apparently BAM the deal is done.

We've been wanting him for at least a month and nothing happens. Why are we so slow?

Tbh it seems like Thiago was just waiting out for the right deal with Bayern that he wanted.

Not getting thiago or any other cm is depressing :sigh:

How can you say we haven't got any cm..... theres almost 2 months left!

Now that's a name I haven't seen in a while. What on earth happened to him? Barely heard a peep about him since he left Arsenal which was a good few years ago now.

Also the amount of pessimists in this thread is unreal. At least wait until the transfer window closes before moaning. We've got no idea when they started talking with Thiago, it could have been months ago.

it took months for us to talk to thiago whereas bayern signed him in a day. doubt we are gonna sign a player that will add to the team. Glazers are leeching money out of the club, ****ing bastards.

what is the point of talking to him for ages if we are not gonna sign him.

Maybe Bayern have been talking for longer and/or gave him a better offer.

Worst case is we sign Fellaini. which isn't a disaster...

Or are the best side in the world and have a manager he has already worked with. Singing Fellaini would be a disaster as well tbh. I will be massively annoyed if we finish this transfer window with Fellaini and Baines.

Calm down the transfer windows been open for 10 days

It's not an overreaction.

We've needed a CM for about 5 years and still haven't bought anybody. Hoping for one is just a waste of time.

Pretty much this. Rather bid 25m on a Marchisio or a De Rossi (I know, I know) than on Fellaini, even with their ages.

What reasonable alternatives are there besides Fellaini?

Let's just play all out attacking football. **** a midfield.

------------------ Carrick
Valencia - Rooney - Kagawa - Nani
---------------- Van Persie

Oh dear. You can't seriously believe that Bayern started talking to him yesterday.

Isn't that what you've been doing for years anyway? The Alex Ferguson method - **** the defence and CM, just make sure you pack the wings and striking options!

Yeah pretty much. There was a match last season where we were a goal or two up, might have been Everton at home. SAF made all of his substitutions after we had the lead (and we were desperate to keep the lead, of course). At the end of the night, all four of our strikers were on the pitch.

Tbh, it's probably the best way to go about. Stick to the traditions of the club - attacking football. 4-1-5, till we die.

Thiago is not yet a Bayern player, I'd say its a transfer triangle, if Thiago was going to sign for Bayern today then why did Pep come out and show his admiration for him and try and sweet talk Thiago to Bayern,

Thiago can either stay at Barca, the club that made him and the club that will give him best opportunities for future spain caps, plus he will play with players he knows and with a style that suits him, however he will have to be patient until Xavi declines before he can make a major impact there.

He can go Bayern, to his former coach Pep, who trusted him and admires him very much, also the best club in the world at the minute and pretty much will win a lot of trophies and deliver much success, however the competition at Bayern is huge and he maybe pushed out to play in positions not optimal for his progress, with lots of pressure to perform.

He can come to us, a team that is dying for a player like him and as long as he plays to a certain standard will be guaranteed starts and playing time due to lack of competition, he would play in his optimal position and not have to be patient, however Man Utd do not play tika tika and he may find it difficult to adapt to the PL.

Lets just wait and see, my bets on Barca convincing him to stay.

No. We've always had a decent balance to the team. Attacking football is played in the majority of games, but the defence has always been solid and the midfield has been okay (less so over the last few years).

That team would get stomped by any decent opposition. It would probably be good against the weaker teams in the league, though.

The summer has only just gotten started, but it's worrying to see the other top clubs in Europe already making signings. If we're looking to become more of a threat in the CL, we need to sign elite talent.

Pressure from Both Bayern and Man utd can actually make him retreat and stay at Barca-safer option.

Exactly, plus Barca will not want to lose him to Bayern even more than us.
