I'd rather we unite the Arsenal boys than the Spurs boys tbh. Would be £60m cheaper too.

Havent you read Wenger's interview with the Guardian tonight. ''Cesc's going to give it another year at Barca''. You can take this as good as from the horses mouth.

No idea what made you lot think Cesc would even consider Utd anyway. The guy never showed anything but genuine contempt for Utd and can you honestly see him playing for Moyes with Wenger waiting? Not to mention the array of first refusal/sell on clauses that make a transfer extremely difficult at best.

He's not RVP, somethings are more important. Different caliber of man.

Also, there's playing for David Moyes...
So United have confirmed Rooney won't be moving to Chelsea.

If he had ****ed off to the big smoke every prostitute in the North West would've had to file a class action lawsuit for loss of earnings.

Are those the same reasons Thiago moving to Utd ?

Not one credible source directly linked us with Thiago. Besides, if your former manager promises to move his best DM to CB to make room for you in the best team in Europe, well...

What source do you count as credible ? Thiago to Utd was everywhere

It was obvious to everyone Utd needed strengthening in central midfield. Thiago was the perfect player for Utd. Pep wasn't always interested in Thiago but he hijacked the deal because Moyes wasted time and didn't sign Thiago up ASAP. Utd would have been the place for Thiago imo

Didn't he go on strike to force a below market value move to Barca? And people are really overplaying this Moyes thing, we're still the biggest club in the biggest league in the world and Moyes will either prove himself to be a top manager or he will be moved on.

This Fabregas talk is stupid though and I wish people would stop talking about it.

Why are people acting like its almost transfer deadline day? Thiago went to Bayern because they are the best side in the world at the moment and Pep had given him game time and placed trust in him when he was at Barca, it's an easy decision to make.

My point is Pep wasn't always chasing Thiago, there was an opportunity for Moyes to wrap up the deal very quickly.

And what makes you think that? If you had actually been following the transfer then you would have known that Bayern were linked to him from the start.

was 130m officially a few months back but since then the club's banked season ticket renewals(quite a bit of money at 1,000 a pop x 40,000 + corporate boxes) and there are installments from various clubs for previous transfers(in Arsenal's case this is quite a lot of money...) so the its around 180m apparently. Even the interest AFC are earning must be substantial, at a modest 3% a year the club is 14m every 3 years in interest.

Maybe Messi is the exception. But the point stands that if Wenger doesnt sign a player, its not because he lacks the money, its because he thinks a 25m transfer is 500k too much or a 40m transfer is 1m too much...

Just googled and your cash reserves at the same time last year were £115m, why are we assuming that this money is going to be spent now when you have been sitting on it for a considerable amount of time?

Genuine contempt? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-491279/Fabregas-admits-I-admire-United-Arsenal-club-forever.html

The clauses are the biggest problem imo, to come to United he would have to say no to Arsenal

Not sure if this 2) and 3) really apply to Fabregas, at both United and Arsenal he'd be one of the first names on the teamsheet and on good money, the only difference is United are more capable of winning titles than Arsenal. He had 6 trophyless years there, does he really want to risk not winning anything again?

What makes me think that is because days after Pep said he wanted Thiago Pep got him. If Pep wanted him from the start he would bought him from the start.

Thiago was never seriously linked to Bayern at the start of the window its because of the established talent in Bayern's midfield there were never any strong links between Thiago and Bayern. It was only until Pep had the press conference and explained how he was going to accommodate Thiago the links really started to appear.

Did moyes or anyone from united mention thiago? I think Pep only went public with Thiago when he knew the deal was more or less done behind the scenes

Pep was only going to come out and say he wants Thiago if he was sure he was going to get him, negotiations would have been very close to completed at the time of his press conference.

Why are you trying to cover for Moyes failings? Pep was not always interested in buying Thiago that's a simple fact. You guys are trying to make out Moyes never had a chance to sign Thiago when he obviously did. You can't accept the fact that Moyes wasted time and didn't sign Thiago when he had the chance.
Thiago admitted that he'd been speaking to Pep after the Euros so the latter had been able to speak to the player and obviously having connection with him at Barca was able to persuade him to Bayern. Moyes never had the chance to do that besides reportedly speaking to his father but it seems we waned off but that's done. Thiago's gone to Bayern and good luck to him.

Bale/Fabregas won't happen. It would be great, for sure but won't happen.

I still think our first major signing under the Moyes era will be from Merseyside.

Why is this all Moyes' fault? You can't force a player to sign for a club.

It seems to me that he had already decided on Bayern and was just waiting for it to be finalised, so Pep could come out and give that press conference. It's naive to think Pep didn't speak to Thiago long before that, his brother is his agent after all.
