The number of A*s depends on the Uni. I know for a fact that Oxford students average 5 A*s (seeing as it's so similar to Cambridge, it would be safe to assume 5 is the average there as well).
Other Unis like LSE ask for 7/8 minimum.

Actually most have 8 or more A*s according to this document:
http://www.hepi.ac.uk/files/44%20Oxford%20and%20Cambridge%20full.pdf

The average is 6.2 A*s according to this:

6.2 isn't far off 5 though, so there's still hope for us!

I was told at my post-16 interview that if I get the 5 A*s I'm predicted I'd be able to think about applying to Oxbridge :/

Thanks for correcting me, and thanks for a useful document. I was told on a visit to an Oxford college that 5 was the general amount, but okay. Looks like I need at least 6/7.

LSE doesn't ask for 8, my brother got in with 5 for a competetive course.
I'm really nervous for results day. I'll have moments where I suddenly feel really sick and my heart pounds really fast to the point where I feel I'm short on breath. Breathing into a paper bag seems to help temporarily, but the same feelings keep coming back time after time again. Has anyone got any tips to help reduce the stress please? I keep telling myself there's nothing else I can do until the day but it's not working. :frown:

Same, I felt fine about results day for a few good weeks but am now panicking just seeing the mentioning of a stars :/ some exams I took ended up being pure gold while I also made some careless errors across the board in some exams and controlled assessments so who knows what I'm going to come out with grade wise. All I can tell myself is that if I do really well in A levels it can make up for potential losses in GCSE results, maybe the same could work for you? Think ahead I guess, I'm already preparing for my computing a level, hopefully I can show that although I screwed up before I'm still going to be an intellectual boss  . And if the results are truly awful you can always retake a whole GCSE

Mee  all of mine were CCEA haha
I think the wait for GCSEs were way worse than the wait for AS'. This was last year btw. So glad I don't have to go through it again. Good luck everyone, don't stress yourself too much like I did :s-smilie: just enjoy your summer and focus on results a week before it comes.

What did you think of the double award science, which exam did you find the hardest? Its just I found biology the hardest and all my mates found it the easiest :frown:
Anybody do the CCEA Home Economics exam in May, what did you think of it?
Ahh! This is so weird, it feels like just yesterday I was waiting for my GCSE results! No one panic, you'll all have done amazing!
