Car make? Car model?

What do you mean by freeze? As in, they're all stuck at 0 or all somewhere in the middle?

It's a Citroen Saxo.

Speedo isn't working and is at 0. Revs and Petrol stuck in the middle, not moving.

Sounds like an electrical wiring fault to me. I had a similar fault in my old car where the wiring was lose and the gauges would sometimes all drop to 0.

Speedo sounds loose. Do the other two respond when there's ignition (do they go back to 0 when the car is off)?

Yeah, we've contacted the eletrics guy but he's not come across the problem before and things it might need a whole new dash board .. is that what your car needed?

They are stuck at the level even with the ignition off .. no movement whatsoever

Google it someone is bound to have had that problem with that car

Try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins then re-connecting it.

One solution which may work

:lolwut: that's odd to say the least.

Plenty of breakers on eBay selling Saxo dashes for less than 50 quid. Might be worth buying one then getting the garage to fit it / get a Haynes manual and fix yourself.

I wouldn't have thought it would be the dash, it will be the wiring

Hope so. I've just never seen a Speedo get stuck before. Wiring tends to just kill it no? Perhaps a short?

I wouldn't have thought a car that age would have a speedo cable. It's more likely to be electronic.

Fixed for now - although if it does it again to eBay it is!

Well at least it's fixed for now.

I was just about to reply to you that buying a whole new dash would have been a waste of money!

Haha no problem
Hi just try and disconnect battery for few minutes it should sort your problem .
Might be worth hooking it up to a code reader and see if there's anything stored on the ECU. If resetting it by disconnecting the battery fixed it then it was most likely an issue within the cluster or ECU, rather than loose wiring. If it's dropped a code then it might help you to stop it from happening again.

Snap.
it's a french car with wiring issues ...

there;'s only one thing worse than french car for wiring issues, and that's a french van where the wiring has been hacked about by either English or french yokels as part of a specialist conversion
