Just a quick question to any of you guys does your school do what ours do where you do standard grades in 2/3 year then highers in 4/5 then adv in sixth instead of the normal 3/4 standard higher in 5 and adv in sixth? Also has anyone else sat highers one year early I got to do that in 4th and passed higher computing with an A out of interest?
I did my Standard Grade English exam in S3 but that was because I was in a fast-track class. It was so we would be given 2 years for Higher but in S4 we were put in with an SG class so we really didn't get that extra year.
I think English was the only SG exam you could do in S3 at my school.

I don't think you can do that at my school anymore. They used to let some pupils do credit maths a year earlier but the last year sat the exam in 2010.
In music they'd put able pupils up to do higher in 4th year, but 2010 was the last year they did that. No idea why they stopped.
Although I know that in some other schools in my area they still fast track for music, not sure about other subjects though.

If you're looking to pursue a science degree, why did you opt to take so many art/humanitarian subjects? Chemistry would most likely be useful for a Physics degree.

Because I enjoy the arts subjects I've taken (apart from English) and St Andrews only need AAAA at higher with the only subjects you need being physics and maths. Chemistry may be helpful but I find it extremely boring so I'm not doing it.

My school fast tracks art, music and graphic com for exceptional students. They can do Higher in 4th year and AH in 5th.

One of my best mates is studying primary ed., he's loving it! There's actually so much more to it than I thought, and so varied as well!

What were you predicted for your exams? I wasn't given any predictions as such, but I achieved AAAAA in the prelims.
How do you feel your predictions will compare to your actual results? I don't think my actual results will be as good - I'm thinking I'll probably get a B in English and/or History.
How are you feeling about results day (nervous, excited, etc.)? Quite nervous really. I just want to get it over and done with.
I think Ladymarshmallow (my twin sister) will be even more nervous than me though!

I'm sorely tempted to but then I'll get earache from both school and my mum. There's only two other highers offers on offer in the English column (Digital Photography and Info Systems); I wouldn't mind doing digital photography but the art department won't let you take it unless you've done art in 3rd or 4th year or you've done higher art and Info Systems doesn't appeal to me. The intermediates in that column are also pretty rubbish so I'm practically forced to take English

How do you feel your predictions will compare to your actual ? I'm hoping my results will be better than my predictions, I would love BCAAA but I know that's not realistic, it's more likely to be CDCBA, which is what I achieved in my prelims.

Why in the world do you have to take 7 subjects? Why can't you just forgo the English column? English isn't an important subject for you to have. You really don't need it, and if you don't enjoy it, along with 6 other Highers, you're going to add unnecessary workload with additional stress due to the nature of 'doing a subject you don't like' and compromise the rest of your results.

I don't have to do 7
I'm just doing it for the fun.I only have to do 1 unit of higher politics and I've done roughly half of the modies course which means it's a lot less daunting than it sounds.
I'll probably be forced to take something else in the English column if I drop it though since my school has said 5th years shouldn't have free periods, even though I have one because I wasn't put into core PE for some reason

You probably haven't messed up in many (or any) places. It always happens that a while after the exams everyone does the whole "oh now thinking about it I totally messed up" when really you probably did pretty well.
Try not to worry too much

You can then work on one of your non-timetabled Highers in that time.

I never did it with any of my other exams or coursework or anything. Only anatomy. I think because of the nature of the exam is really high pressure at the time, so the pressure followed me out of the lab.
