The first number is 100%, the second is 90%, the third is an A (80%), the fourth is a B, the fifth is a C (60%), etc.

The UMS scaling below an E is somewhat random.

AQA A2 - HIS3M and HIS4X.
HIS3M was modern British history covering 1957-2007 and HIS4X was a 4000 word essay on Russian history spanning 1905-2005. We could choose our focus and I chose the economy.

They've not been officially confirmed yet (and won't be until the full grade boundaries are published on exam boards' websites) so take them with a pinch of salt, but there's no reason to doubt that they're correct.
