I think I'm more nervous about the fact that we can't do anything to change our results as opposed to being nervous about what I actually got...

I guess you can always have a remark if you're close to a boundary, some tweaking can still be done? :biggrin:

You never know with controlled assessments to be honest! You've probably heard about exam boards demanding for everyone's work because teachers have marked too harsh, or were too lenient. I did French with AQA in Year 10, and with those grades, I think you will obviously get an A* overall in the speaking, but an A in the writing ( if AQA are nice :biggrin:

).

The Writing and Speaking which are assessed internally (i.e. in class/controlled conditions) total up to 50% of the final grade. So if you got 3 A*'s and a B, it will probably amount to a low a* or high a. I think you'll be in that boundary.

Neither my sister nor I get 'rewards' such as money for our grades, but we normally go out for a celebratory/consolatory family meal. I suppose this way it's fair since no matter how well/badly we do, our efforts are always acknowledged. But I wouldn't mind if my parents sat down and talked to me a little more about my GCSEs and what I actually had to do etc. :smile:

We don't have celebratory meals really, I'm kind of glad that it's low key. In reality, I'm not one for socialising and, well, fun, I just prefer to get on with things and work, so I'm glad that grades and what not aren't really celebrated. I don't even like birthdays that much any more! (I still like Christmas though).

That being said, when I'm at home I procrastinate. A lot. Weirdly I don't do so as much when I'm out of my bedroom and in another room, but I find it hard to do homework well in advance, instead usually leaving it till the night before. But when I'm at school I find it easy to get on with what I'm doing provided I feel that what I'm doing is interesting and actually beneficial.

I would have liked it if my parents had had a go at my Music teacher. He was a very nice man but an awful teacher - he didn't teach us how to compose, didn't teach us how to perform in an ensemble and he tried to get us to join the school choir and stating that it was compulsory for us to do so unless we wanted detentions (despite him saying in Year 9 when I signed up for Music that "singing is not mandatory" :mad:

). That being said, he did sort of have the issue of having a fair amount of people who couldn't even read music. That's the problem with the course - there should be a certain grade that you have to be at before you're accepted for it, even if it is just GCSE. Grade 3 is a good level, I'd say. I was Grade 5 in Piano when I started and Grade 1 Violin, but it seemed some people had taken it thinking it would just be a laugh. But the thing is he had to go over such basic stuff to some people because they'd never done a grading or music theory, for example, semitones and tones. That's one of the most basic things, yet we spent two lessons on it. I swear some people deliberately tried to slow things down though because there were some highly skilled singers in the class stating "I don't get it" when you should understand such things if you're a singer.

Phew. Sorry. I'm sort of ranting and raving now!

Anyone do triple award AQA science? What do you think the ISA grade boundaries will be? I have a really bad feeling my ISA's are going to get marked down.

Well other people are expecting me to get A*s, but realistically I think I'll get As with maybe one unfortunate B. It's hard to predict because there were both good moments as well as very bad moments during every one of my exams. So goodness knows how I've done!
What grades are you expecting?

I'm scared, excited and nervous about my results atm... Some subjects I'm worried I might have slipped a grade (English mainly) just because I think I really messed up that paper. Most subjects I'm not too concerned about anymore (since I won't have to do a lot of them ever again :biggrin:

). History was one I was concerned about since I had a 4 different teachers in the last 2 years and the teacher we had that was actually good only had us for the last 2-3 months of teaching then when I did the paper I realised I completely messed a question up completely as soon as I left.

But the main ones that I'm bothered about now is: physics, maths, chemistry, biology, english. If I'm honest I hate English but I kind of need a C in it xD I've never got less than a C in English before but I still think I might have messed up a bit in that exam.

I did AQA triple science, I'm more worried about the exams tbh. I wouldn't be surprised if the ISAs were marked down though, as they seemed really easy

Did anyone do AQA Drama? (Yep, I regret that subject choice massively!). Our class weren't even taught for the exam, there are about four A* English students in the group and we all failed the practice exam papers, not a good sign!

Yep, me too, but French rather than English. I'm worried about history, but not actually bothered haha - I know it's my weakest subject and I don't intend to pursue it! :biggrin:

And even when she receives her results tomorrow, my parents will be busy sorting university things out for her and I'm worried that my GCSE results day will sort of get overlooked and disregarded.. Hmmmm

EDIT: I've just re-read this and omg I'm being such an attention-seeking teenager lol

Try being youngest! When I was doing yr six SATS, oldest brother was doing GCSES, when I'm doing year 9 assessments (SATS were cancelled) oldest brother doing AS, when I'm doing GCSES, middle brothers doing AS other brother doing A2. They're worried about him getting into uni. I'm always the last person they ask about, and its a lot less special...but when you do A level, its massive because you're leaving for uni etc. but still, I feel you bro.

In all honesty I don't really go out with friends, only my boyfriend is all I bother with and we meet daily.
Wednesday I'll be sat lurking at the grade boundaries and I'll hopefully get to see city of bones( iloved the books :smile:
