Where do you find the grade boundries the day before? I have to wait until 11am to get my results, god that's going to kill me.

Universities rarely say what they really want you to have for example so little universities produce a black list but it is well known that universities discriminate against different A-Levels and universities want you to have 5A*-C including English and Maths and while they won't do a public announcement they want it.

If you wanted to go to UCL, you wouldn't want to have to take an extra GCSE in a language on top of your degree so it is quite a disadvantage and in a world becoming more and more globalised universities and employers are going to want languages more and more, especially when you consider how bad the UK is at foreign languages compared to the rest of Europe-how are you supposed to trade and negotiate with people if you don't know their language?

I fully see where my language teacher is going when she said how I'd be at the top of the employment list with 2 languages-I know She was completely exaggerating but She does have a valid point.

Well of course they want 5A*-C, you probably wouldn't get into Sixth Form without that!

Yes, we're getting more globalised, but technology is also improving. Research from Microsoft and Google could make it unnecessary to learn languages within the next, to be lenient, 20 years. If languages are so important now, why isn't Mandarin being taught as much? That's the most spoken first language in the world, followed by Spanish. French is no way near as widely spoken as Spanish is, yet it still remains one of the most popular GCSE languages. Doesn't make much sense to me.

What exam board did you do English Lit with? Wasn't too confident with coursework and exams didn't go very well so it's not looking good for me either (sure you will do fine though).

For AS I'm taking Maths, English (lang & lit as the combined course), History and Business Studies (I am doing this on a distance learning course).

I did AQA! fingers crossed i did well :tongue:

The c/a was alrite, but the exam didnt go too well. URGHHH! im glad i dont EVER have to read poetry AGAIN!!!!! loool.

Yeah, then you specialise later. I'm undecided so I look the idea of doing a mix of Physical and Chemical science modules. Gives me even longer to decide what to choose and you can try new areas that you've never learnt about before.

at my school we also doo this peer mentoring where 6th formers help younger years who are being bullied etc. and also help them learn maths English and science in free periods or during tutor :smile:

..theres also an option where if I have a free period last I can go to primary school and volunteer there for the end of the day every week :smile:

Ooh right well it all sounds good! Yeah this year I've been a peer mentor to three people and I believe they have improved - it's very rewarding! The sixth form I'm going to also has a peer mentoring programme so I'll be able to carry it on, and there is also a programme where you help younger students learn to read better so it's very similar to your school :smile:

That work experience thing sounds good, I hope I can do something like that! Was it you that I read wanted go into medicine? ^_^

If you go on to the Cambridge website they list the options for each year of NatSci. I think some units are compulsory in the first few years too. I think you can pick modules from different sciences but in the last few years you do modules specific to one science as far as I know. Its all explained on the website.

At Cambridge, in the 1st year you do 3 from 1-8 then a Maths module. For example I might pick Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics and Mathematics. Some modules require you to have done certain A-Levels.

3. Computer Science
4. Earth Sciences
5. Evolution and Behaviour
6. Materials Science
7. Physics
8. Physiology of Organisms
9. Mathematics
10. Mathematical Biology
11. Elementary Mathematics for Biologists

I think TSR are gonna create a link for them anyways, it said in the op. but if you want to, you can go to the actual exam board's website and see what they have put, and sometimes they can range between 3 - 1 day before results day.

I'm so so nervous about maths edexcel higher paper results?! Anyone have any idea what kind of grade boundaries they will be? Considering the exam was quite hard?

Then in the 2nd year you do 3 modules and there is more choice then you specialise in the 3rd and 4th year. I really want to get on this course. I hope I have at least 4A* at GCSE and I will work my ass off for great AS UMS but I probably still won't be good enough :frown:
