Course changed to foundation

I met my target grades (280 UCAS points) for my insurance course of History and Politics at Manchester Met, but after over 30 hours of no update on track, I got an unconditional offer for a changed course to do a foundation year.

I don't understand why, I got an A in history and a C in politics.
I met the requirements and it was my insurance offer - I didn't get my firm.

I got ACE and DDE in AS - 3 years of college

Can someone please explain why they could have done this for the time being, because I can't phone them until tomorrow morning.

I can't afford a foundation year, and quite frankly, I don't want to do it when I'm clearly capable of doing the first year of the course!

Thank you.

An A and a C is not 280 points

What was your full offer and what do you actually have

I got A, C, E and two Ds and an E from AS levels

They wanted 280 UCAS points from any

An a and a c are not worth 280 Ucas points! Your grades total up to 200 Ucas points!

A foundation year is the first year of the course so it's nothing to worry about but you will be given requirements to meet to finish the full honour... So you will be on the normal first year but they might say that you are required to get a 2:1 to get on the second year due to you not meeting the requirements but they still want to offer you a place because that's what Glamorgan Uni did to me when I applied, they only offered me the first year because I wouldn't get the full amount of Ucas points they wanted me to get with the course I was doing.
Hope this helps.

Are your 3 AS levels different subjects to your A2 subjects? If they are the same, they won't count at all and your total points from A C E = 240

Ah, ok

Do they accept GS?

Were there any other conditions?

The web site says 280 points from A2

They are asking for this Minimum of 260 - 280 UCAS tariff points at A2 they have no mention of AS so assume they want your ucas points from A2 only. looks like they are not counting your AS even tho they are from diff subjects..

The alternative argument is seeing as they didn't exclude AS levels, the OP was perfectly right in assuming that these 280 points can come from anywhere.
its rare they will accept AS levels

normally your offer must be from 3.5 A2s unless otherwise specified
