A* in Maths

I got a B in AS level Maths, and I was hoping for an A* at A-level.
Do I need to resit a module to get it up to an A at AS before I can achieve an A*?
Or can really high A2 score pull up my grade to an A*?
thanks.

Depends on your capabilities. AS modules will become very easy once you are doing C3/4. Personally, I would resit.

C3 and C4 are easier

I got

91 in C1, 73 in C2, 96 in C3 and 96 in C4. No point.

I did get an A though. (edit: at AS) ... I got an A* overall

What were your module grades?

You need 90% across C3 and C4 so 180/200 in those two modules. Besides that, your scores in other modules can be anything as long as your total score adds up to an A overall (480/600).

A resit or two may be useful in case you don't make big enough improvements to pull your score up by enough on A2 exams alone.

Good luck.

I got 79 in C1, 62 in C2, and 80 in S1.

I was going to resit C2...my Maths tutor said I should have got higher but I missed a few lessons. Next year I won't miss any lessons and will do more work at home.

Should I resit C2 though?

You must retake so to pull ur overall score.
Also u need to consider that core 3 and 4 are based on As modules if u havent got the full concept in c1 and c2 then it's a bit difficult to get 90 + in c3 and c4.

Not necessarily, to get an A* grade at A level you need an A grade in the A-Level (so at least 80% UMS) AND 90% or higher UMS in A2. So if you were to get 90% A2 you should get over 80% ums overall and get your A* grade

By 90% UMS next year i mean in C3 and C4 as said above

it is possible to get a C at AS then get and A* after A2 theoretically without resitting. AS 180/300 (C) A2 300/300 (100% unlikely but eh) = 480/600 = A and because C3+C4 > 180 ---> A*

I believe for maths you need 90+ for all the core exams this means c1 and c2 need to be 90+ too.

nope you need to average an A overall (480/600) and have a aggregate of 180 between C3 and C4

Fair enough, it sounded like you meant you only got an A overall.
