Is it silly to apply to just one university? It's the only place that does my course, and I can't see myself as happy on a course similar somewhere else. I'm just worried because if I don't get the offer, that's it. I wouldn't mind taking gap year as I've considered it many times

I would think hard about your choices, are you sure you want to go liverpool? do you need more time to think? are you sure you'll enjoy your degree? and many more questions you need to ask yourself, would you want to take the risk? etc.
If unsure about any of these then I'd gap it

I would honestly never apply to 1 university but that's me. Also no offence intended of course but I've never heard of that degree, do you think employment prospects will look strong after graduating with 2:1 or a first in that, no point rushing decisions and losing £27k.

I would personally take a gap year if I was in your position but that is only because I want to aim for the top 10, if your happy at Liverpool then go ahead I say.

Of course not. If its the only place that offers your course, then by all means go for it, although, I would say (you can totally disagree with me) you may as well apply to similar courses in other places, ans maybe organise a visit there to see what its like, because you may actually change your mind during the whole application process. You could always decline any offers you don't want to go ahead with.

Haha, exactly! Which can only be good, right? Need to ace these exams, shame about Jan exams though :frown:

I agree. Tbh, I loved it until this year. Although when I say loved it's nothing like people on here it's more I understood it well!

I'm not entirely sure, for years I was wanting to do Accounting and Finance but now I'm thinking of having a more broad degree and going into it after uni. That way I'm not specialised too early.
At least now I have another year to think! What about you?

Of course  it is such a shame, its definitely going to make these next few years harder to cope with when it comes to exam season, and less past papers available

Ah that's fair enough then, I personally hated it, which was great for me, ah well, you get another year with it I guess

I understand what you mean, its probably a good idea as well, and if you decide to go for a PHD, then you can actually specialise to your interests which may totally change throughout uni. I'm applying for medicine and chemistry for my fifth option
Well hello there :colone: I think us honorary members deserve a mention on the first post

A2s = few exams :party:

Yup - pretty much D1 in a nutshell. Ah nice M1 is a really fun module! I thought I messed up the exam but edexcel scaled the boundaries nicely .

The same happened with History omg, I was expecting a B and then it turns out to be a higher grade than Economics :colonhash: yet again my most disliked subject comes up higher than one of my most liked subjects xD. Yeah definitely, despite a higher history grade still definitely dropping it otherwise my performance would fall so low and history sucks up so much time it's unbelievable!

Ah cool Durham! I'm probably gonna apply their as well  so I may see you there who knows :holmes:. Exactly  and thank you! I've also opted in for additional further maths to increase the probability of that happening!

Haha well here's what I want to do this year:

Spoiler

M1 is sat a month earlier but I suppose I'd be learning M4 when your learning M1 most likely :colone:

Sorry what are you applying for if I haven't asked  ?

That sounds awful. xD Coming from someone who really enjoys maths. I just couldn't do that much! That's really impressive though, best of luck to you!

I still think doing AS FM would benefit me greatly, but I don't trust my abilities to do that many exams in summer. I think I'd mess something up. If we had Jan exams, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I'm applying for Chemistry.

From the previous thread.

They were alright, not quite what I was aiming for before my exams, but I'm still satisfied.

Nice, those are some excellent results! Shame about the couple of 'blah' blip modules, are you resitting any of those? Great results overall though :party2: Looking forward to getting ready for STEP? :colone:

Indeed we do :colone:

A2s = more exams  (picking up another AS-level, no Jan exams and admissions tests STEP and AEA D: )

Because I hated it and I tend to do bad in subjects I hate, so I was quite relieved it wasn't the case haha. Thank you

Oh wow, was this the edexcel S1 paper? If so, you should definitely be proud of that! That is a great mark

Oh, I see. Weirdly, I'm the opposite. I always seem to do reasonably well in subjects I hate and/or don't need to do well in. Such as my surprise A in English Lit at GCSE. :P

Nah, OCR. It was a tough paper, though... actually, tough's not the right word. It was a weird paper. You know how all stats papers kind of follow the same pattern? It was as if they'd chosen this summer to just throw in a ton of weird, unexpected questions. That threw off a lot of my year.

I'm definitely sure I want to go there, I've always planned to apply there whether it be when I wanted to do vet med/biology/history etc  And I've changed my mind about my degree many times which is worrying, yes, but I've only just come across this one and the modules suit my interests so well! And I plan to do a masters in Paleoanthropology afterwards. I'd love to be a Primatologist, Archaeologist (long shot but people get those jobs so why can't I try?), heck even a teacher or lecturer. I know I've rushed into this but I genuinely think I'd be happy

It is risky, but I think I have a good chance as long as I have a good personal statement etc, and they don't care too much about my stupid dropped AS grade haha :colondollar: As for the degree itself, I know it's a bit unusual and unheard of, but it's only a specialised variation on Anthropology so it's not as unheard of as you may think.

I'm not too bothered about top ten, I'm probably not clever enough, and I've limited my choices on what I can do as I want a degree with a biological or historical element, and this seems right  with only one science at A2 it's hard!

I'm kind of new in this mini-world of yours, and I'm absolutely in love with The Student Room atmosphere. Oh my God, I seriously can't believe it's nearly over. Year 13! I remember regarding them as the super adults in school, and now I see myself as such a kid :s-smilie:

Politics + International Relations
AS: Spanish Lit. (high A), English Lit. (low A), Geography (high A), German (low, low A), History (high A)
A2: Spanish (done - full marks! Maybe being native helps hahahahaha), English Lit, German, Geography and History.
Universities: Cambridge, St. Andrews, East Anglia and no idea about the two remaining... perhaps Bath and York or Edinburgh

Call me weird, by I'm SO looking forwards to start this year!

Glad you like the atmosphere and all!

Added, and well done on your grades

Yeah I guess that's very true! I was thinking of applying to a similar course at Durham and Kent, I'm just not convinced I'd get an offer from somewhere like Durham with such a poor grade in my chemistry AS level. I suppose it's worth a shot though  Thank you for the advice!

Opposite to most people as well you mean  ah, I loved English Lit, seems like years ago. At least you got the A though, and it kind of means you'll do well in almost anything

The worst they can do is reject you, they won't come up to your door and punch you, so yeah, nothing to lose by applying there  besides, you'd probably surprise yourself
