Why does everyone seem to hate communism?

Okay so I'm new to Politics and very interested, I know I could look all over the internet but I guess I wanted a direct answer from the people of TSR.

What is so bad about communism?

You could benefit the poor if you split the money ( which i guess is what rich people may disagree with and argue they have earnt it) but it also shows that people are equal.

One thing I'd say it that people may think that Communism would fails as one person would always wanted to take control.

But what are the issues surrounding, doesn't it work in poor country, Chavez improved Venezuela a little bit from what I believe, even if it's a little he still helped those in poverty?

Largely because it's misunderstood. Many of the examples of communism we see in history weren't communist states. Your post shows a misunderstanding too because Marx never intended communism to start in poor countries but in countries with a super abundance of materials. So places like the united states were expected to fall first to communism.

If you have 2 of the biggest mass murderers in history as pioneers for communism then people are going to hate the ideology regardless of how you try to present it.

Every attempt to implement anything close to communism on a large scale has failed terribly and caused countless amounts of death and misery. On top of that many dislike the idea of not being able to keep what they earn so to speak.
Because it gives something quick and easy for people to hold up as a boogeyman and channel their repressed hatred onto.

It's perfectly natural human behaviour.
It's a nice idea. But that's it.
If you 'believe' in communism as a concept which could actually work in a human society, people will start hating immediately because it just seems so stupid of someone to think it could work. Humans are greedy!
Well, lets see...

1.

Every attempt at utilising communism has failed, and mostly failed spectacularly.

2.

Human nature means that some people woudl work harder than others, and yet under communism would only get paid the same wage as their lazy counterparts. That's unfair.

3.

Human nature also means that power corrupts, and communism requires that no one is truly in power - that can't happen because someone would have to willingly give up absolute power.

4.

Oh, and if I go to school for longer and work harder to earn my degree and career, I deserve to have a better lifestyle than someone who does the minimum.

True communist states will never exist because they will be perverted by greed and corruption
I should've known 'work harder' and 'human nature' would come up on the first page.

Not a commentary on people's opinions. Just an observation of a pattern.

Plus the example of China seems to undermine the potential of a true Communist economy to lead to prosperity. Without Deng Xioping changing China's economy to a capitalist one in the 1970s it wouldn't be the superpower it is today. Held up against the spectacular collapse of the Soviet Union, communism doesn't seem to be feasible in reality

Communism would work out only in theory, not in practice.
The fundamental idea of communism itself is wrong; Instead of offering equal opportunities for everyone, it forces equality. - Wrong.
It takes money from those who work harder and try more and give it to these who don't/do, but less. - Wrong

If you do more, you get more. Simple as that, and that's how it should be.
If not, then I might as well just not work at all and have someone else pay for me.

Also, in most examples, communist regimes have limited freedom of speech and human rights. Even though many communists don't want to admit this.

In communism, the best people suffer. The most intelligent people are often limited just so they would be equal to everyone else. This, for example, stunts progress.

That's why I dislike communism. It is a terribly flawed ideology.

Those are just some of the examples of why communism is disliked. And it is for a good reason.

Communism is Paternalistic. It does not allow one to seek out their own destiny and flourish. The needs of the country must come first. Take Cuba for example. The Castro family leadership has some sort of stranglehold on power for decades. While communist, the leadership is more similar to that of a dictatorship and it is no secret that the general population of Cuba are kept well under the thumb and down at heel. I would rather have choice without security than to have my dreams fettered by a control-freak government.

Because sadly most people are sheep. They follow what they are told without doing research themselves. During the cold war, there was a lot of propaganda both in the US and UK. The issue is not communism but those who try to implement it. How many people have died as a result of capitalistic wars and poverty due to the failure of capitalist economy? How many people continue to die and suffer because of capitalism? The answer to these questions will make the crimes committed by bad implementation of communism look like good deeds. Communism is not sustainable without to some degree of certain capitalistic elements.

Do you even know what communism is about?
These 3 historical leaders may have something to do with it.

Communism as described by Marx and Engels says nothing about freedom of speech. You are just regurgitating the propaganda by US and UK governments during the cold war. I do however agree with the failed attempts to implement communism causing countless loss of life but the same can be said about capitalism causing countless loss of life through wars and ongoing suffering. The problem with past attempts to implement communism is that they were in a hurry to achieve it. They decided to trade time for the lives of their citizens. Then again I could see why. The powerful capitalist minorities around the world were just too hostile towards socialism. On the other hand capitalism had plenty of time to develop with no opposition.

Lack of personal freedoms is a problem.
Just to say, Chavez was a socialist not a communist.

It could not work without a fundamental change in human psychology.

To say it would not work in practice is an understatement and oversight as even as a concept it's very flawed and not the cute, cuddly theory most people claim it to be ('nice in theory').

I can't see that happening any time soon, and considering what communism stands for I think that's probably a good thing.

The problem is not greed. Humans are also generous. The problem is that in a capitalistic society you have to be greedy to survive. Place kids in a properly implemented socialist society and their views will be drastically different. They will be less likely to be greedy because in the society they grew up in they did not need to be greedy to survive. Before imperialism and states formed people around the world were socialist in nature. Hunter and gatherers worked together as a community because they wouldn't go far if they were selfish and greedy. I am not saying we should all go back to being hunter and gathers but saying people are inherently greedy and selfish is inaccurate.
