Warwick Freshers 2013 Megathread

Scroll to see replies

I quite like drinking, but not clubbing. I will do it during freshers at least - I suppose I don't mind it that much. Also although I like having a drink I don't want to get to the point where I'm sick if I can help it.

Ha yes, but loads of people accidentally go too far. I prefer to remember the night the next day, if you get what I mean? I like a few drinks but then I've had enough.
Clubbing and partying. Hmm, again my Spanish experience comes in handy, especially when I live in a tourist destination, look English and am 6'4.

Although aside from perhaps the weekends and freshers week, I don't think I'll be going all out and partying on a constant basis. I like my sleep too much for that...
And from experience the only times that me and my friends absolutely go too far is when we have something plaguing our minds and getting absolutely wrecked seems like a reasonable solution to our problems.

It never is and you end up waking up with a whole new array of problems, but once you've had a few glasses it just seems like a good idea...

Hahaha. I think Latin seems more, I don't know...more prestigious? Like the employers would sought after?

I think Latin would probably be more interesting cause loads of English is derived from Latin and stuff, but Greek just seems less complicated and more fun  But I agree, if you say you can speak Latin people will be impressed haha

Hi guys! Can anyone here give me a rough estimate of the prices for getting into gigs/parties in the Copper Rooms? On the SU website prices are being withheld until the 11th September and I wanted to check if it was worth the money buying the Platinum pass or just the passport

Congrats to everyone on here who got in!

Prices to individual copper rooms events will vary from £3-£6 depending on the event. The freshers passport is worth it if you plan on going to the majority of things you can turn up to (for my year, freshers pass was £55, and the total amount was around £65-£70). Platinum Pass, in my opinion, isn't worth it until you KNOW whether you're going to spend your life in the SU  . I don't think it's worth it, purely because you will end up in Leamington and Coventry at some point, and may prefer it there, and you'll be £200 down :yep:

You will miss the freshers fair and the beginning of socialising with your flatmates, as well as the first couple of lectures of your course, so I wouldn't recommend it, but there's nothing stopping you...
Hi everyone! I'm also glad to see there are a lot of people who aren't really into clubbing, I'm most excited about the pub quiz :colone:. On most of the freshers events it says that you need to be an NUS+ member to get in, does that mean we need to buy a separate NUS card or would we just use our Warwick uni card?

Congrats on getting in!

Your university card has an opt-out membership to NUS automatically. The NUS extra card just entitles you to discounts elsewhere :yep:
